Stihl MS460

I'm thinking of buying one of these. I've tried all the alternatives; husky (so don't bother saying I should get one instead!) and Makita DCS7901 and altho the latter has that better power/weight ratio I have decided to part with it because I just don't like it! Saw snobbery in the extreme I know.

Anyway, I'd be interested to hear all your experiences of this saw, good and bad altho not expecting too many of the latter. I would be using with both 18" and 25" bars.

I'm aware too that the newer technology 441 might be smoother and be quite torquey but I'm attracted to old technology for its simplicty and in case a new 461 is due soon and I miss out on a classic - I take it a 460 is a classic?

460 is a good saw. Best with a 20", will run 25" no problem, if you port it it will pull 30"...

I went for the 441 in the end, havent regretted it one bit.

awfull anti vibes and bad fuel economy I do like em though! damn fine rip snorting power house though,tryed a 441 very nice smooth saw i would take that over it ....you cant put a price on preventing white finger and the fuel economy pays for it self!

I will say after i stopped using saws like the ms460 my joints in my fingers feel a lot better....just need stihl to sort the anti vibes on the 200t!

AV is the reason I went for the 441. As I say, not had reason to regret it, had it for a good 2 years and given it a good beasting in that time.

Good saws with good power, use ours with a 25 inch bar.

I like them a lot, occasionally stall without warning ( if you get a bad one ) but still prefer the Husky 372xp now thats a saw mmmm!
