Stolen saws - the Irish connection?

Hi all - first posting. Or have I been on here before in years gone by...

Anyway, had my 3 Stihl chainsaws stolen 2 weeks ago.

An 034 with 20" bar

An 020T with 14" bar - serial no. 44447019

An 024 with 15" bar - serial no. 132732718

Scoured the internet and the only likely candidates seem to be in Northern Ireland.

Has anyone any previous experience of saws etc stolen in England and then turning up over there?

They won't make it as far as Ireland- they will be bought by someone probably not far from you. Easy resale down the pub, etc, no need to ship them across the water.

Ive been asked loads of times if i "wanna buy a saw blower etc" the way i see it, if people didn't buy it in the first place then the scum would't nick it!!

Firstly, there probably only Irish when it suits them. There travellers. As the other reply said you can buy gear in the pub or off the shady guy you know. Keep your tools locked down at all times. Keep an eye on donedeal.ie gumtree.ie

And give the shady geezer in the pub a hiding for selling bent gear do it daily and he would soon get the message.

Several well know rogues operate in the area stealing chainsaws, chippers, machines. Check Dragon Driving website and the auctions and carboot sales at Derby Cattle Market.

i'd like to mention that not everything that get nicked should immediately be blamed on travelers.
