Family cars

I'm after a new car as my last has been written off, with baby number 3 due in October I'm looking for something that can fit three child seats and a buggy, oh and shopping! I'm thinking multipla looks (ugly!) practical, but I have heard bad things about the jtd engines, gearboxes and fiats generally! Or, galaxy. Bigger but more reliable and 7 seats, with removable rear mean I can turn it into a 'van' if I need to.

Budget only around £1-2000, the less the better!

Anyone with any experience of either, or other nuggets of wisdom, please speak up

I used to have 2.0 diesel Peugeot 406 estate that, apart from an issue with the over-complicated electrically adjustable seats which was resolved by replacing them with manual adjust ones, was the most reliable and economical car I have ever owned. I reckon one of them would work for you and would be within your budget too. :001_smile:

The VW Sharan family in 1.9TDI guise (and I presume PD Guise too) were absolutly formidable as a family car.

Mechanically sound (despite stories about duff gearboxs), exceptionaly frugal, and easy worked on.

And absolutly humengeous with all rear seats removed.

cheers

I too have 3 kids. I have my heart set on a discovery 2 7seater but more financially sensible would be the Kia Sedona.

The Sedona is 2.9 diesel, sliding back doors so no dinks when the kids get out in car parks. If I had one I would have one of the back seats out so it has a large half width boot.

I'll agree with you there. A mate of mine had one since new and only got rid last year, where as other friends got rid of the Ford Galaxy years ago due to problems
