Work benches

I've been thinking about making a work bench for sometime to go in my shed, and was just wandering if anyone has done anything similar? Just looking for ideas/designs at the moment.

I want it rustic looking, i'll be using wood i've milled myself as well.

Cheers!

"Wot no photos of benches"

Some picture for you Steve.

First my Cabinet shop bench. Just knock one of these up in an afternoon :laugh1:

Then my chainsaw bench which is attached to the shed wall so no cross bracing. The top is some 3" boards with some threaded bar going from front to back so as the boards shrink they can be tightened up.

Wow Sussex groundy that is one tidy workspace

i used softwood, 4"x4" legs, 3"x9" planks for the top - needs to be rock solid.

exactly the same here, built it in situ and thunderbolted it to whatever masonry was closest. I also put a lump of heavy angle iron on the front edge of part of it. this gives you something substantial for straightening things when bent or I can earth the whole thing and just lie metalwork on it for welding
