Thats just alu smeared on the bore. Suggest opening up for a look, its likely fixable without spending any cash. See my auger here, scroll down for the pic before repair. I have since put a new cyl on it, but couldnt be bothered to finish reassembly - some parts were not left where I thought they were...

I've not found that, I always have mine right next to the hedge, last job it was sort of in the hedge and a bit awkward to get through the leylandii to the next step but fine once I got past it. You can also straddle the ladder which is exceptionally stable, an A frame lets you move and lean a lot more before it wants go topple over? Anyway I'd never get a 10' henchman on the rack. Worked with a lot of people and I'm yet to see any out in the wild. Anyone using them in the South East? It would be interesting to try them but I think it would only be once! There are shorter variations of my ladder under different brands and some have adjustable feet. When I get to it, perhaps in spring, I will make up adjustable feet that slot into it on one side.

Newer type batteries might be worth trying? Its usually the batteries that limit cordless tools. My customer yesterday had bought one of these things, note that he had never used a saw previously. Showed him the very basics of using it safely. The batterys are somewhat loose sloppy fit and the runtime was very short. When the batteries die, nothing flashes it just dies, the indicator light only lights up when they have charge. 48V (24V x 2) Chainsaw 36cm - 2x 4Ah Battery WWW.GREENWORKSTOOLS.CO.UK Medium Chainsaw - 36 cm sword length Fast chain speed - 20 m/s Weight - 3.8 kg Oil Tank - 180 ml, automatically oiled Brushless motor - more power... Seems very much a homeowner type saw, I dont think it would last for professional use and the run time of the 4Ah batteries is very short. For the price? It still cost more than my Makita UC003 with a battery.

Small woodland job. Theres a few nice oaks around it but mostly filled with poplar, some cherry and birch, and lots of coppice - possibly hazel, not sure without the leaves. My job was to fell several windblown, some birch with polypore, cut away the ivy from the big ones. Keep it woodland, keep habitat, but make it nicer, safer. After lunch the owner asked if I could show him how to use his new battery chainsaw, that he will use for firewood. Showed him the very basics of using a saw safely, got him to fell a few of the small dead birch. The ivy was odd stuff. It wasnt the normal climbing ivy seen everywhere, that grips the trunk firmly the whole way up. This ivy that looks like it has dropped down from above. Its lightly attached near the ground then dangles freely up to the canopy where it tightly wraps everything. Anyone know how it gets up there? Perhaps it grows independantly then into the canopy? Or perhaps it starts attached to the tree, then as it matures, lets go with just the canopy attached. Enjoyable day, hopefully going back in the week.

Its not abour the cost! Mine has both sides adjustable which is adequate for most work, including that I would say. You'd not get me up that tripod in your pic.

They look extremely unstable to me! While not perfect for all situations I think the Topway is great for hedge and pruning work. Hes only a couple meters up, tho high enough I wouldnt want to drop a saw. He bridged that last bit at the end.. when he twists, that is exactly the move that made my right knee pop out a few years back. Twisting with your legs stretched is a very bad thing to do, if you value your knees!

Does it turn a little or is it solid? Try gently warming it up with a heat gun. It may be that moisture or dirt has got in and rusted the bearings. Should come apart easily enough once the big circlip is off, I'd inspect and replace the bearings.

Turns out this was unreliable shite. The slightest bit of humidity or cold in the air and it refuses to turn on. Sat next to the hall heater, it works. Plan is to send it off for warranty repair and then ebay it. Its replacement arrived today, far more powerfull, uses Makita 18v batteries, but they do others. Ordered 28th, 8 days from China. Arrived with 5 bar in the tank ! https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0G1M3J3WH

I've been asked to sort out the TPO application for some oaks. The first she just wants pruned, and I expect they will allow that, it was done 3 years ago, previous cutting points etc.. The second, she wants removed. Previous prune was at the same time, very small crown for its height. Its not a great example, the crown has previously been lifted high. It was covered in thick ivy, which was cut and fell off. Being in the small back garden, I suggest its got low ameniety value. I suggested that if she is willing to plant a small oak in a better place, they might allow it. Two applications, or one? How do you charge for it? If my name is on the forms, are planning going to be chasing me if she gets somone else and they do a bad job?

40! Youth left me with my hair 20 years ago. I do have a secret weapon. A very heavy sledge and a sharpened leaf spring. It will cut and lever any small stubbon bits. Pic from a previous job. If you cant get to the roots you can smash through it below ground level. I found most of the roots small and some rotten, there was one large 4-5" root on one side, very odd! Didnt take long to smash. Helped customer with tipping, she has a nice small van.

Nope I quite like the ones I got, one of my best arb purchases. They are exceptionally stable as an A frame, light and compact for the roof rack. 10 meters fully extended if I remember correctly, 5 meter as A frame. Only thing I dislike is when using extended with the bottom type sections leaning against a tree, they are too wide and I dont know how strong the rungs are like that. But in that example I didnt need the extra height, could have removed the end section. Anyway it worked. The other disadvantage is in the example above, if you had it fully extended, a groundman cant easily lower the upper section without flopping the ladder down to the ground, as the adjuster 12 rungs up in that pic.

More lead in this one, 280g. I'll add a steel ring on each, would have been better to buy them in advance and insert while it was printing.. While I've been trimming hedges today I left the printer on, I now have A pair of Stuka sirens.

Small hedge job today. I do love this 2511 clone! Loads more power since I adjusted the carb. Unsure what the roots will be like but I've offered to dig these out with the mattock and make it nicely flat.

I'm back at this one today. The informationI could find, was that puffballs only grow on dead wood, and will not decay a healthy tree. Here is a better photo showing the position on the buttress root. Short video to show the spores, which are now dark green. VID_20251230_114444.mp4 Please ignore my ladder-hedge cutting safety shoes Should the fungi give any concern to the long term health of the oak? Thanks

The launcher tube currently looks like that but I havent glued the sections yet. Made a lead filled throw weight for it. TPU so its flexible, its not going to shatter. Only had black or white, so used both. Not as heavy as I wanted. I'll adjust the size to get more lead in and print a few more. First time making lead shot, should have done it before I started it printing!

Two Irish lads are strolling down a street in Liverpool, England, when they spot a shop window that reads: Suits £10, Jackets £7.50, Trousers and Dresses £5.00. One turns to the other and says, "Would ya look at those ******' prices? We could buy a boatload, haul it back to Ireland , and make a fortune — double, maybe even treble the money!" The other lad says, "That’s a grand idea, but d’ya think they’ll sell to us if they know we’re Irish?" The first lad grins and says, "Don’t worry, I’ve got this," and walks in, putting on his finest English accent: "Good afternoon! I'd like twenty suits, thirty jackets, fifty pairs of trousers, and twenty-five dresses, please." The shop assistant squints and says, "You’re Irish, aren’t you?" The lad replies, "Ah feck, how’d ya guess?" The assistant smiles and says, "This is a dry cleaners."

Looking at an oak today, noticed this fungi on a buttress root. When touched, there were visible white spores released. Looks like they are well past their best, is it possible to identify them from the photo? Photo of the whole tree, its the closer one.

Pipe has been shortened but a 12oz does not fit well in 38mm pipe, it really wants to be the less common 42mm pipe. Instead I'm 3d printing the tube. Looking at a tree tomorrow and hopefully suitable to test it out. hmm?

This 20v 400w? 20 V pruning saw | Kress WWW.KRESS.COM The Kress 20 V pruning saw is designed for effortless control in tight spaces. Its ultra-compact, lightweight build makes it ideal for trimming branches... I imagine then its similar to the £60 20v Fakita, which I quite like too.
