Ah, if as Steve B says he was motivated by a rescue mission then fair enough. Driving through the water fine - causing extra damage by the speed tsunami he created isn't. Imo.

I used to have the view (and so did in real life) it was better to run a bigger saw with a longer bar to give more power and less back strain. As I got older I started to like small saws again. No good in big trees though. A 500i on a 28' has been my daily for over a year now. Couldn't go smaller so appreciate the weight trimming. I'm cutting big Douglas.

On an 8 tonner, a roller head is going to eat every fluid ounce of hydraulic flow you've got. What are you cutting in the main? Hard or softwood? Keto 51 is probably going to be most numerous head available to find second hand. Not a great fan of Keto myself, only because they can't compete with a mainstream head from the main manufacturers. There is a very small Logmax fitted to an 8 tonner which I am told made an appearance at the APF show. Off the top of my head you've got Logset, Viking, Keto, SP, Waratah(JD), Logmax, Komatsu*, Ponsse, AFM, FMS Stroke head, Kesla easily available. Logmax makes the best case.
