  1. Yer, still on the back burner. Had a demo of a 535. Half the speed of a lorry on hills. Or was it a 530, can't recall. Dealer was useless.
  2. You've hit ze nail on ze head
  3. I don't live there but friends do; bear in mind it never stopped raining from end Jan to May and then as you say started again in September with a vengeance. The entire summer was neither hot nor really dry. East Dartmoor had over 90mm rain in ONE night earlier this week! In one night! 🤯🤯
  4. The number of businesses that have decided to cut their losses if we have another winter like it is piling up. I know of many. No spring to speak of, summer was always teetering on the edge and now this. Awful. Devon seems the be the epicentre of this crap.
  5. Very Sad. Just heard that one of the men I admired most in my life has died; General Sir Mike Jackson. An absolute privilege Sir. 🫡
  6. Loose to fill 1 cubic metre space. Absodefinitely. Precisely that.
  7. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-essex-60626045 Fire Service 46 in action? Nice above shoulder action 😝
  8. Chris Packham ‘forced to pay £200,000 to pensioner’ after libel case UK.NEWS.YAHOO.COM Chris Packham has been forced to pay £200,000 to a pensioner and country... Good. Can't abide the Muppet.
  9. Never got anything sorted in the end. Full of bright ideas, but a total rethink on the storage is underway, having a timber double garage made at the moment.
  10. El Nino. Not climate change BS.
  11. Nope. I can explain if you'd like.
  12. We all remember (unless you were too young) where we were this day, 23 years ago...
  13. I sincerely hope Two Tier Kier Starmergeddon doesn't U-turn. I want him to be the most hated PM of all time and be roundly booted out during an emergency GE within 12 months.
  14. Not sure if this should be in the Jokes thread..
  15. Ethbic Ethnic cleansing then.
  16. I will get back to this when I've got 5
  17. And thinking about it, how did the FC plant health bloke miss this?!
  18. Seems us and the planting contractor have both had senior moments here. The site is very hot with PR so how on earth did we arrive at DF and S.beech 🤯.
  19. Some clarification, since AHPP has decided, based on an obviously very long lived grudge, and also misquoted me on the recent replanting thread I posted. Lots of comments on here about cowboy / bs / can't be right / vandalism etc. The facts: Not a PAWS site - one post made that assumption with zero knowledge of the site. 90% of the trees and stumps were actually sweet chestnut, not oak. That is entirely my mistake and happy to admit it. Interestingly no-one noticed the difference when I posted the picture for scale so ID police were obviously not here! The whole site is under a SPHN. The FC have confirmed in numerous site meetings (and after deadline extensions) that the stumps are included in the SPHN conditions and must be removed one way or another. If the ground is too steep, they are looking into approving eco-plugs. The only other option is constant removal / spraying of regrowth for ever. That would be a sentence from hell if ever there was one. Plus, would you want to plant / beat-up / weed and maintain a new plantation with that lot in your way when you could have removed them?! I found my circa 5th post and it wasn't terribly rude by modern standards. There was plenty of two-way traffic in that respect. Not sure why AHPP decided now was the moment to bugger up the other thread. Cheers.
  20. Useful derail there - not. Do I abandon this thread or hope there might be some interest or advice?
  21. Hi All, recently we felled a decent volume of PR infected Sweet Chestnut on some of my land. We've thrashed out a replanting list and want rapid establishment and have decided on a broadleaf mix with conifer nurse, pref. DF. We're going for Nothofagus (S.Beech) as it suits the area, geography, etc. Only concern is that both these are listed as "plant with caution" under FC guidance - see attached pdf. Any thoughts? Many thanks.advice_on_replanting_sites_felled_due_to_phytophthora_2017 (003) - Common names added - complete.pdf
  22. Used to do 4 hours commuting a day (B roads); 2 there and 2 back with 8 hours machine driving in between. Good job it was machine driving and not saw work cos that wd have been too much, esp in winter. These days I can hardly cope with 25-30 miles each way which is 45 minutes of country lanes. Do physical work in the morning and machine driving in the afternoon - keeps things safe. OP - couldn't deal with 110 each way even on the M6 through Cumbria.
