  1. Thanks guys for your responses. I think the Clarke ones are heading up the shortlist 👍🏼
  2. Worst possible time to be trying to get into timber. The Big Corps in the trade - Euroforest, Tilhill et al and their agents are doing a good job of trying to kill off the small man. Everything's a battle. FISA idiots who expect trees to grow like they did in the textbook. Costs of parts. Cost on your body. Weather, breakdowns (unless you've got a million quid new machines and warranty), public perception thanks to cuntryfile. Knock yourself out but don't expect to earn more than £1/hour in reality.
  3. Hello All. I'm posting as occured to me there might be some recommendations on this here fine forum, for pop-up tents/sheds/garages etc. One can google til the cows come home. I'm looking for something that will be in a sheltered spot, and approx the size of a double garage, or two single ones. If anyone can recommend a particular make and model I'd be super grateful. Thanks!
  4. https://twitter.com/scottishbants2/status/1656610490867384325/mediaviewer What a piece of detritus. My advice to the band, chuck him overboard and leave the fishes to nibble his entrails. I've got a bet on who comes to his aide here 😉
  5. There isn't a fine line between tree surgery guys et al and foresters - but a VERY broad one. "Local Tree Guys" insinuates just that: trucks and chippers, not productive timber cutting.
  6. Afternoon all you lovely people. I'm struggling to find online a retailer listing the above chain, particularly Oregon 73 LPX. I really like this chain I do and miffed to think they've updated it to DPX or some such version? DPX is rubbish imo.
  7. MH Fabrications, Truro Way. Shit hot but busy obviously. Repaired our boat when we had it down there. Does a lot of agricultural engineering and not phased by much.
  8. Oooh all the Chris Packhams coming out. Yep, fk this, cu l8r. Wrong website.
  9. 1) FC SPHN conditions. For the second or third time of pointing out. 2) It's not a paws site.
  10. Average multi stem stump size. FC have stipulated complete removal. As per opening post, we don't want them there either.
  11. FC have stipulated complete removal. As per opening post, we don't want them there either.
  12. Yes it was a mixed larch (sphn) and oak fell. Also sweet chestnut, birch etc. It was all old oak coppice and not been managed for a century. Frankly the oak was fkd; half at least of it was dead.
  13. Hi. Picture if you will a 15 acre woodland on a mild slope. Recently clearfelled. We've now got over 200 absolutely massive oak stumps. The smallest is 4 foot diameter and the largest easily over 10ft diameter. They are also quite high as there was no chainsaw big enough to get to the bottom of the stump if you get me. Some are nearly 6ft high. Currently a bit vexxed about what to do with them. We don't want them there for replanting. Thinking either dig out and bury or mulch but don't think there's a mulcher big enough! Either way it's a big old undertaking and we want a blank canvas. Appreciate your thoughts.
  14. We had 1000 tonnes of oak felled last year. In Gloucestershire. Haven't been paid for it yet. So there are certain contractors / agents to avoid. Won't name publicly but do private message me if you want to be forewarned.
  15. Can't get my head round anyone having the time to make and execute all that. Can't really see the point of it either. Boys with toys. Better than drugs I suppose. But still can't believe anyone has the time and / or inclination. Certainly not a luxury I'll ever have. If I had trillions I'd still have to work in the real world.
  16. The clue is in the fifth and sixth words I wrote and evidently applies yo.
  17. Pulling trees with trucks. Fkn clueless. All of it beyond a joke.
  18. Did the customer specify a tower block development in the wood? Bad practice like that! What's the world coming to?!
  19. Very lengthy review on PBO.co.uk. practical boat owner
