  1. Yep me - it’s a great machine, nothing to date although we went round it following delivery tightening everything. 34k inc guarding and grab. Ha its better investing then watching it make fack all in the bank. TBH it’s abit of a new venture as such on the 8MCR but I just looked at it and thought we could make some money with that. The versatility and pumps are gonna make it interesting - vision involves the usual attachments and trailers! Habitat creation and de-veg works. If all fails they hold residual well “nothing ventured, nothing gained”
  2. Defo not doing that - machine is well looked after and handles faultlessly. It’s a tracked 8MCR (tab) btw and I understand the specialist part which is why I want it otherwise id of walked away weeks ago and bought another 8t. @doobinis correct I recently purchased a E27 at a great price by basically putting the other brands prices in front of them and saying beat it!
  3. Yeah and that’s something I appreciate but they’re a Mecalac dealer so expected a more prompt fix. Yeah it’s the machine for us - tbh it’s the perfect arb machine. Thanks for the input!
  4. It was a hitch problem - the whole hitch has now been replaced but keeps displaying a sensor fault.
  5. It’s a Mecalac and it’s not chump change as you’re probably aware. The reason why I havnt already said oh forget it, is there isn’t many/any others for sale.
  6. No as tbh I wanted the machine to be fixed properly without me breathing down there necks however I feel this may have now been taken advantage of. Regarding urgency - again I just feel this goes without saying if you’re buying machinery you want it as quickly as possible so it can earn you money.
  7. Hello All, After a bit of advice. I agreed a price for a pre-owned excavator through a dealership, it had a couple of faults that were agreed to be put right ahead of them letting it go to me. I have been waiting 8 weeks so far with little in regards to updates, they're having an ongoing issue even though they replaced the required parts. Now we didn't agree a timescale as I foolishly thought as they're the dealer it would be turned around sharpish - am I being a bit unforgiving as I now want to re-negotiate the price as I have lost jobs and had to hire in a machine due to this delay and still don't have a date in mind. My other thought is, is this an omen that the machine might have wider problems and I should maybe just walk away (bearing in mind no deposit has been left), fyi I have negotiated a decent warranty in with the deal. TIA
  8. In this scenario - regular mowing/cutting is your best best
  9. I meant in regards to them being removed within permitted planning.
  10. Can I ask what you mean by this? As if the council is “on your side” it’s a non issue as planning won’t be approved!
  11. They’re not based on just the TO’s opinion, the biodiversity metric (stat&bng) would have been applied to the site (ecologists) and unfortunately the trees you’re talking about are easily replaced to allow for development. I appreciate your woes and it is unfortunate but as another member suggested, in the grand scheme of habitat loss this is easily replicated whether you like the new locations of the trees or not.
  12. As a few have stated above, it comes down to geographical location and if anyone else is supplying that type of equipment. In Hampshire there’s already a few companies doing it so most of the client base is sewn up, unless you can provide a similar service for cheaper! In the hire game it’s the service not so much the machines that will hold clients for example my preferred suppliers will allow me to collect the machine the afternoon before or return the machines the next morning without charging an additional day, they also have excellent machine support if the machines go down! Good luck if you do take the jump.
  13. There’s plenty of companies out there that will help you through it - have you asked Chas for a checklist? Easier to work through it yourself, most things are standard documents that you can buy as a template works out far more cost effective then paying a consultant (unless your time is more valuable).
  14. Well as the tree was already known/owned by the LA and had previous surveys done, all it would have cost is the admin fee & time it takes to update files….. so £50-100???? (Happy to be informed otherwise)
  15. No but the tree was under third party management so the LA should have put a TPO on the tree. The contractor has done nothing wrong, the LA should have protected its tree! How hard would it have been to put a TPO on it - they can’t have their cake and eat it, I appreciate it was a lovely tree and a real shame to lose however this faux outrage is slightly ridiculous from the authorities point of view (public - yes although a minutes silence is laughable).
  16. Virtue signalling at its finest! As you say soon to be forgotten but people love to feel like their opinion matters. They used a mewp because they should & could, most commercial guys including myself use a mewp for 95% of our works due to HSE guidelines.
  17. How did they not? Removed on h&s grounds - sought the advice of a professional survey and undertook the recommended works. Lovely tree so it’s a shame but heavy footfall and traffic area. Significant….. so much so nobody bothered to put in an application.
  18. Hi Pal, I didn’t make use as it was only up to 2 year deal at 0%. Finance rates are still very low so made use of having the additional cash in the bank and bought another excavator 🤣
  19. Offset with native planting always goes down a treat imo
  20. If I’m honest I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more often. The sector is full of companies winning contracts that they don’t have the staff or experience to deliver on. Answer rely on climbers/staff who will turn up to situations like this and think that’s ok to climb as the onsite supervisor agrees, also helps it will look cool and it will save money/time. A man put his life on the line to cut a tree down and the supervisor ok’d it! The book should be thrown at the company and I hope lessons can be learnt, the key one in this situation - **************** Instagram, stop and engage your brain. Goes without saying i wish the guy a speedy recovery as we all make mistakes, however a company should be structured and experienced to stop people making these kind of mistakes.
  21. Only decision the climber should of had to make that day, is where shall i sit while they winch that over.
  22. It’s a buyers market atm for machinery (not crack)
