  1. I've brought a lidl one, just for really crap chains, where you wear out files Trying to get a chain right. However I'm with Dan blocker, ex boss used to bench sharpen chains, they were never as good as me filing by eye and also the chains producing the perfect shaving
  2. It's the Thames Valley power group or was, based in Didcot, took everything, paid for it I used to deal with them about ten years ago, when I was going to set up a tip site between the local 2 man teams of tree surgeons... But the local ones were a bit dense so it never took off, but they were paying £21 a cube for anything, including that they supplied the bulker... All I had to do is get paid. The problem is most tree surgery set ups are small, unless you get into the big boys and then they'd not entertain you because they all ready have biomass contracts. Most small business's don't have a yard or if they do it's not suitable to have an artic on or a skip or hook loader/ roro. Then they don't have decent kit to load it either. Most tree surgeons don't understand that the quicker the waste is gone the quicker they get paid.... But most of them drag the job out to make it seem bigger than what it is. So that rules out supplying a skip to site. Better off looking at woodlots and seeing if thes a forester selling thinnings off cheap... But thes no such thing as cheap timber anymore, thanks to green energy and renewable shite. Can you not accept pallets and screen nails out of them? There kiln dried and also thes loads of skip company's desperate of that type of timber! Never be short and they'd pay to get rid of it, not the other way around. Woodwaste local pro tip costs £100 a ton to get rid of, also recycling sites can't get rid of timber quick enough sometimes so thes huge heaps of shredded Woodwaste, de nailed no contaminants in sat on yards as as soon as the supplier doesn't want it the recycling company is stuck with it!
  3. It won't happen, as Didcot gobbles all green waste, including sweepings, chunks of logs and woodchip and because they won't have to pay haulage they'll pay alot more for everything that you won't take. That's how it is there. It's absolutely silly....
  4. Laburnum, with the log below it being Scots pine or oak,
  5. Wrong bark for cedar, deffo oak
  6. Just get a decent book keeper, and yes you do get tax rebates if you do enough site work....
  7. Use aspen or moto mix, then you can't go wrong... I'm shite at ratios also
  8. Use the cheap plastic rocwood ones, doesn't damage the thread of the machine, and cheaper to replace than a thread
  9. We've ash dieback specimen on the front of the house, next doors ash close to their house isn't infected although I wish it was!
  10. Are you doing the holzforma /farmertec clone of the hs models of hedge trimmers?
  11. Bet u a used engine for a transit is peanuts compared to buying a new knacker, transits are peanuts to keep going
  12. Nice regular pollards, suggest you research arboriculture before you claim it's butchery... Also want to say that was very nicely done work
  13. Blackthorn is the first image, we've got it on the yard, and the other looks like fresh alder before it turns orange
  14. Inder 18 Sharp bladed article ebay
  15. I had someone once, that I was on the ground, he was section felling using a 36" saw (mine) I told him to stop cutting.. And get out the tree, 2ice he cut through his climbing line.. Fully qualified and less experianced than me.. He ignored me... Some times you can't tell people.
  16. I knew it was one of those brands, hence why I said some digging needed, I believe I looked at that machine a while ago because it was being sold with a faulty gearbox... It was rebadged. I'm sure bcs did handle valpadana at one point, but it was blue..... Saw one once for sale on FB.. But parts where available from bcs or valpadana... We looked into it but after research and being told it'd be an expensive repair.. I stayed away!
  17. You need to do some digging, I looked at one of these tractors, I belive you can still get the part as I made a phone call to mccormic and you could, but also I did see one of the other alpine tractor brands poss bcs (blue) that was the the identical copy of the red mccormic. Bcs, alpine, Ferrari and mccormic were all the same at one point
  18. Yeah I got that thanks, it is a chain that is fitted correctly, I've got the next problem, I've found the right sprocket via your link.. How ever looking at the saw thes a toothed collar which the sprocket fits into 7 tooth geared thing, echo list another one but I've had to email a dealer as it seems the are two collars, both with the last three numbers different, if this cog is 6 toothed and the others 7 then finally I can get the sprocket changed and put a thinner bar on! Thanks so far
  19. So first image is the set up, currently, and it's painfully slow, even though it's on a 13" bar Second image is a carlton and on 050" 1.3mm. It's great it fits the mount but, big but the chain doesn't sit correctly on the sprocket... Like two teeth trying to fit into one v on the sprocket! So I'm a bit stumped, if you change the chain then it won't fit the sprocket on the tip of the bar! Doesn't help oregon hovering up all the other brands that used to make sprockets. Kind of regretting buying two of the echo Cs 370 there like the old farmboss 029 and 039...your waiting on the saw to catch up! 😂
  20. I brought a pair of them, thought they'd be either good thinning saws or basic logging saws. Both came in on the same set-up... I did try a 7 tooth 050 sprocket from China but sprocket wasn't deep enough so it almost caused clutch to burn the side casing!. Been to a few dealers and even on the echo site, shows a different sprocket but no listing for it! It's strange, some of the chainsaw bar chain retailers have not got any further, yet an 050 bar and chain fits it but not the sprocket 😔 Thanks
  21. Hi all, I'm having issues with a Cs 370 es, it's a slow cutter, I would either like to speed up the chain on the current set up and keep the 058 bar and chain or swap to 1.3 050 low profile bar, chain and sprocket. Both of which need a change of sprocket... What I'm looking for is someone with old school knowledge to be able to x things over. The saw is semi pro, kept on aspen only, on factory standard set up. It struggled to do a plunge cut on a 12" ash log on a razor sharp chain. Looking for help as I can't x reference the parts, echo doesn't shows two types of sprocket but only lists one that's 325 x 058 think 7 tooth factory standard. I'm hoping so one might be able to put me right or say I've got one in a shed kind of thing. Thanks in advance
  22. Get a wragg, decent built
  23. It was new ish but out of warranty, like I said he'd not take stuff out of service to get things fixed and often would lie.. Yet would happily go around in a new car (evo) I'd do the same again if needed. I do climb (and still do) hence the whole question about overhauling or scrapping. I was able to carry on doing the dismantle up the tree with a 42 13" bar.. As far as I'm aware employed people don't provide there own saws.. By chance took one of my saws that day. Hope this has cleared things up smart arse. The owner of the company was a hunt.... I mean would you send your teams out with domestic saws, day in day out?
  24. I have three or four, but if your employed why should I be using my tools on an employed job? I ended up taking my h42 and finishing the job... That way after chucking the saw on the pad. The best bit is I knew what he was charging, but he'd never invest in new equipment. I see things in black and white... Nice and clear cut
  25. It was sent out for dismantling/section felling mature trees and doing mega awkward work around lv, hv work.. And crane jobs. It would run, cut out, fling chain around, die, not start or die halfway through cuts, it'd stall. I'd had enough with being lied to and shaved costs whilst the boss ran an expensive evo....
