  1. £21 pounds a cube for would chip, that's if they accept it at Didcot, less than 6 weeks old and couldn't have much greenery in it. Artic and bulker 21 cubic metres is the max the could take in one hit, still have to rent the yard and load the chip...that's if it doesn't get refused in Didcot.. Yes everything has a value, but its got to be financially viable . Just realised I've tagged you in it
  2. I knew of a dopey plumber who got screwed for 30k 🤣 if your nieve enough to let bills rack up on the hope of getting paid -u only have your self to blame . Also just for future reference ,doing also what you've done in the past you need to be very wary of doing, can be classed as theft and also if you book out materials knowing someone's going bankrupt it can be classed as fraud ...best thing is ask for money up front or chase them through court . Its not easy for the small people ...but just ask the idiots who supplied goods to carillon up front and never got paid .. Some people learn the hard way .
  3. Not all all ,I can tell u its the same mostly where ever I've worked .. Tree surgeons don't get it ,the quicker your off site the more money you make, they less chance you will be done for overloading in a 3.5 tonner . In respect to a so called valuable commodity, that's pointless, until logs are cut ,split , dried , delivered and monies are in your hand ,its worth f all, also don't forget the wear and tear of a saw ,just to log up oversized timber .. then going to get the shit to start with . Or may be tree surgeons need to stick with oversized bushes rather than proper trees that other firms can handle .
  4. It goes both ways, I used to supply 40yrd hook bins ,grab lorry's, skips ...for tree surgeons to load foc...we weren't picky on timber ...yet they still wanted beer tokens on top of haulage costs.. Then running a yard. Considering most tree surgeons have no yard ,no tip site, have to pay charges to dump chip or timber ...and they allready have been paid for a job.. ud think they'd be greatful to offload it onto someone ...
  5. I used to do it with building firms ,moneys in account for labour and building materials, then id start work if the job was cancelled the money was in a separate account and it could be refunded . I never got burned , rather not have the job than be screwed over or acting like a bank for clients , f that I'm not registered as a charity !!!
  6. Did it earlier
  7. One long length, lives with the rest of the lowering equipment, no splice or caribeener in either end
  8. Lot of factors involved..I agree with you but its not that easy
  9. Pointless now , green energy wank has pushed up the price of raw materials for firewood ..I don't know how people make living off it ? We used to do firewood but deemed it pointless 14 years ago
  10. Only ever use all round protection ...I've never had a a hit with a saw touch wood, If you don't have full protection...what's the point of wearing ppl?
  11. They are very good, I've never nicked a pair and would rather these than trousers ,I expect to be shot down soon , but I've never cut arms or wrists , and yes I've done every discipline of Arboriculture and some fair sized takedowns .. However I've seen certain guys bragging how many cuts he had on his arms at the last lv/hv induction at Berkshire was amazing he still had function of his hand . Also one former boss slipped with a sliky after saying top handles are dangerous ..9 stitches later ..they'd have stopped that . £70 a pair and they'll save the damage to your forearms. I've never needed them but should I need them there on. Dunno why the hse ,arb association (seems they like to meddle with stuff ) And utility companies don't enforce the use of them. I expect the will be some one who will winge or have a go .
  12. I looked at while ago at the avant ,skidsteer varient ...good lift on it also ...
  13. I'm sure the same was said about asbestos ....that didn't go well either
  14. Wouldn't use it as a chopping block. Known for being a carcinogenic wood
  15. East anglia 🤣
  16. Poor guy .. living in Norfolk.... they are all nuts up there ....
  17. I'd also find out which dealer has the nearest support network to you also ...some fitters are miles away and also charge a stupid callout fee .. and a hourly rate , getting wearing out spares easily is also another problem... also has either one got a better option -like hydraulic oil cooler ...sound stupid but if the oils getting too hot you'll end up with weepy rams and that's down time ..
  18. If you were in Dorset I'd have laid on the hook bins
  19. Aspen do bio oil that's thinner and would flush it out ,aspen 2 in the fuel tank to clear that out if he's fkd up like my groundy did. I myself have put diesel in a efco 131 chainsaw and still ran on it ..that was the bosses fault for putting everything in 20l green cans in a dark garage unclearly labelled.. That was my f up though ...but hevshouldnt have been a knob!
  20. Learn not to lend tools out, as above or use aspen ,my ground once did the same thing 🤣
  21. I quickly read it ,as I was thinking of another incident that happened in a London park with a poplar ,unless they got it confused with this !
  22. Was that the incident where a poplar chucked a limb? These incidents seem to happen more and more
  23. That's some weight for cedar
  24. I was lucky once , I was a fat bugger 14 stone due to medication ,I was about 12 messing around on a willow tree guess crack willow on a limb that was 2ft round ...it sheared/failed and dumped me in a river luckily it didn't pin me under the water.... . It could have gone the other way. I'm not sure if dynamic or static loading makes a difference or if trees just get to a failure point .. if x weight gets put on it then it's going to fail no matter what . It is just shit that it happened when kids were on it playing on it . Bloody poor tree stock management ....
