  1. At what point would one consider buying?
  2. But the old cynic won out in the end!
  3. How about "the virus which absolutely not under any circumstances has anything whatsoever to do with gay men bumming each other"?
  4. Oh, and I forgot to say the main reason for using the anthracite is to put a bit of a bottom in the fire and keep the wood burning better. I find that burning wood only over a multi-fuel grate is never as good as the fire never gets a decent bottom in it to keep it going, which is presumably why bespoke wood-burners like our two Burleys don't have a grate. A wee shake of anthracite, usually less than half a shovel, keeps the grate covered and the wood burns better as a result.
  5. My understanding is that good quality anthracite has a much lower sulphur content than most other coals, whereas many of the manufactured coals use pet coke which has a much higher sulphur content. That's another reason why I stick with the anthracite, or if using any of the manufactured coals I always look for one with no coke. The cooker (with boiler) which I burn it in is about 35yr old, with the iron bend joining it to the chimney the same age, so the theory seems to be working OK.
  6. On top of the fact that they're invariably as soft as shite.
  7. This is a useful guide for the actual content of most of the solid fuels sold in England. https://smokecontrol.defra.gov.uk/fuels.php?country=england Personally, if burning along with wood I prefer straight anthracite, although it can be a bit quirky if being used on it's own.
  8. We should run a poll, "will it actually leave or not?". I'd guess "no".
  9. Off the top of my head, Fargo, American Hussle, Lucy, Hanna, The 51st State.
  10. I bought this twenty something years ago for £1450. Haven't ridden it for 20 odd years, but I still have it stuffed away in a corner among a clatter of other things with an old duvet over it. Sometime I'll trail it out and get it going again and get it cleaned up.
  11. Nobody does music videos better than Rammstein, everyone a masterpiece.
  12. I'm no snowflake, but for some reason I'm increasingly uncomfortable discussing something which had/has so much personal human suffering attached to it, and it's too easy for the point I was trying to make to be lost (or buried) amidst the awfulness of what took place, so I'll bow out of this one.
  13. Takuma murdered eight and seriously injured 15 others with a kitchen knife in the space of several minutes. I wonder what his 'score' would have been if he'd been left to wreck havoc in the school for as long as Ramos was?
  14. A lot of stuff slow to come in to full leaf this year, Ash, Lime, Alder, Birch, off the top of my head.
  15. Could still do a lot of damage in a school if so inclined. Osaka school massacre - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  16. Being the BBC they're probably just laying out the land so they can do another article in a few weeks time about it dying due to global warming.
  17. Jeez louise, that was one f**ked up boy. OK fair enough, it was too easy for someone so screwed up to purchase the guns, but there was so much more going on there and absolutely nothing to do with the second amendment. Social media, the gaming industry, the film industry (sounds like he was channelling a bit of Anton Chigurh!), incompetence of government agencies, etc, etc. Truly awful in every way.
  18. It's not a begging bowl, it's fair and just recompense for centuries of English oppression and exploitation, ...................................in her mind!
  19. That's the problem with being a genius, you're so far ahead of the rest of the world that in your own era you just seem like a nutter!
  20. It was largely predicted (but not largely reported!) in the US that one inevitable consequence of Trump being removed from the Whitehouse, by whatever means, would be soaring energy costs worldwide in the following years. Accurate or what!
  21. A company I deal with in my day job also supply Stens parts wholesale for lawnmowers, chainsaws, brushcutters, etc. Now they're not a dodgy company, far from it, but I'm careful what I order from them as they're well capable of selling, maybe not garbage, but stuff that I wouldn't personally be happy using myself or re-selling myself. Then again I'm a fussy bugger. Anyway, I've wondered a few times what sort of quality the Stens stuff and associated brands is as it would be a pretty handy way for me to get a lot of bits and pieces I need to keep my own stuff running. All experiences, if any, welcome.
  22. Thanks. I know they're all made in China but at least Welsh Shearing have taken the trouble to improve the design when no one else did. Looks like they're the best of the cordless bunch anyway.
  23. Was that your problem?
  24. The clip was modified for the mk2 version, possibly yours was the previous model?
