  1. Have driven a hilux with the air bags on and it was impressive, had some big loads and never looked or felt overloaded
  2. That's how my dog looks when he farts, he then cautiously sniffs his tail before looking at me suspiciously
  3. Have known guys that thought they couldn't function through a day without being wasted, joint before breakfast to start the day and a few in the pocket to get through it. Not for me, I'd never get out the house if I did that
  4. How are things Sam? You've been quiet, made any progress with the treework

I'm not too bad thanks, would rather be working a bit more just now but I'm well.

I know it's difficult but try to keep positive, if you don't keep trying you have zero chance of success!

As for not fitting in here I think you're wrong, you bring a "sunny" feeling with your input and I get the impression that other members think the same. You've got interesting stuff to say, be nice to have you around more again

Awwww I have missed you crazy lot 😂 I am just catching up with the jokes and laughing away like a nut 😁 has work declined in your area then Doug ? Maybe you could get a second job as a stripper or something 😂 x Thankyou for your positivity x I approached my rich brother in law with an investment idea to start my own business but has decided to buy a hotel instead on the Island called (The Wellington) he offered me a job there so I could escape the council but I prefer being outdoors 🙂 I will keep studying and hopefully find a little place with a team eventually x Thankyou for your kindness

      Stripping! 😂

Thanks for the suggestion but I'd have to pay people to watch!

Best of luck to you, it'll work out.

  5. In my experience it's the other way round. The older people I know are completely aware of what seasoned wood is, and many could ID it from looking at a log. The younger people are less knowledgeable. One of my neighbours (40's) asked me if I knew what was wrong with their log burner as it wouldn't light, I said it was probably the softwood logs that weren't seasoned (I felled and rung up the tree for them 6wks earlier). The response was "but it's firewood in a wood burner! We'll need to get someone to look at the stove". And a friend in his 30's bought a house, I did some tree work in the garden and he was left a decent pile of rounds, with instructions how to split and stack for seasoning from me and his elderly neighbour. The pile got swamped in grass and nettles til you couldn't see it and a few months later he asked if it was ready to burn. His elderly neighbour and I raised an eyebrow.
  6. Well worth watching, what a remarkable man.
  7. Was a lovely day here earlier, proper snowing now and minus temperature
  8. I just can't believe Buckles is the 4th man
  9. Late night visitor enjoying peanuts, had a fox beside it briefly but I wasn't quick enough with the camera
  10. Have a close look around the hole. I might be wrong but I've a feeling that field voles habit is to nibble at things round the entrance which can form a little clearing, but mice don't like to hang about the entrance to their holes so they're overgrown and hidden. I can usually tell if it's a rat hole by the old dog's reaction. He'll dig, bark and pull clumps of nettles with his mouth, but doesn't bother about mice or vole holes. The other dog will hunt those mice and vole motorways for hours but not interested in rats.
  11. May be vole or mouse, but I think rat holes are more obvious by the material they've dug out left lying at the entrance in a kind of fan shape.
  12. I've done a little test that may help Steve. Piece of Terram over a trug and ran the hose Drains through in seconds, no water pooling on the material. 2 inches depth of water in the trug, essentially straight through the Terram.
  13. I think Vole holes are generally recognised as being roughly the size of a golf ball, no larger than 1.5-2 inches across depending on the ground they are dug in. Can you see any tracks or runs on the grass in your paddock? In the rougher grass on the Moor here they stand out like little motorways. I'd agree with Stubby about the holes in pics posted by lux, look like they belong to a Vole.
  14. Did a small job near a wildlife reserve so had lunch sitting in the hide there. Tried David Cropper's tactic of phoning Vermeer in the hope of something appearing, said they couldn't help make birds pop up on demand. Suppose you need to be a customer for that service
  15. I got a Bluetongue rope a while back and noticed the same, flattens out at the cambium rings. Was quite strange at first, especially when close to the anchor it's really noticeable in your hand. Didn't think of it being faulty, assumed it was just different from what I'm used to. Use it with the newer version ZZ and it works well.
  16. Now you mention it! And no point editing it now you've kindly quoted me
  17. Enjoyed that, took me back a bit. You haven't built a shed really, it's a film studio!
  18. Mother of God. Been watching it but with little idea what's going on, there's too many acronyms to remember. Enjoying it though, last one was good too.
  19. Very interesting. I can remember them talking about the hearse carriage that carried the deceased being attached to the engine, they'd then add enough carriages for the expected mourners. Often there was only the hearse carriage, sad.
  20. Trig and ometry, it's a love triangle
  21. Sounds like there's a lot more to it. Boss knew the guy well and didn't like or trust him, but still offered him work. Wonder why the landlady has such influence on who his business employs.
  22. I'm sure I've seen a programme that talked about Brookwood Cemetery. In its day, did it have a rail service from its own dedicated station in London?
