  1. Stihl hold a ridiculous amount of stock fir old saws. Not guaranteed they’ll have it, but always worth a call. [emoji106]
  2. Bang 2 dozen 4” nails into the log at 45 degrees in a few lines along the top. That’ll stop any saw goblins. A pile of brash and rock on top of the log and if you’ve got it grass sods or turf over the top. Can’t burn or move it. Made loads of habitat piles in woodlands before like this. (Often without the rocks). [emoji106]
  3. No. If I see one again I’ll photo it [emoji106]
  4. A mate of mines just taken some of the big strawberry unions out of his kiln. I little ripply but nothing major. [emoji106]
  5. Mostly I sell wholesale. 10 or 20 pieces off the top. Otherwise I’d spend my whole life measuring and photographing slabs. Big slabs yeah you can buy 1 but I prefer to sell in bulk as it’s so much less hassle. And big buyers know what they’re looking at too! [emoji106]
  6. Then Jimmy’s got a long day unstacking then restacking.[emoji6][emoji106]
  7. I make my own stands. Pallets are too small and flimsy. Most are on 10’x 8-10” beams with 4’x3”x2” across at 3-5 points. Keeps it nice and flat [emoji108]
  8. Bit of organising today, Got round to stickering everything and in the correct stack! 🤣[emoji106] [emoji106]
  9. Or if you’ve only got one saw. [emoji106]
  10. Couldn’t afford it.[emoji22][emoji22][emoji22]
  11. Nice[emoji108][emoji108][emoji108]
  12. When are you milling the strawberry? [emoji106]
  13. Beautiful [emoji108][emoji108][emoji108]
  14. That’s good going[emoji108] Could you mill it at that angle? Or would the log have to be horizontal? [emoji106]
  15. Fortunately we never found any iron. But there must have been a hell of a lot to produce that much blue. [emoji106]
  16. Reverse threaded torqued nut or a C clip... [emoji106]
  17. Not yet. Got some interesting chainsaw milling plans to do first. [emoji848][emoji6][emoji106]
  18. I haven’t used either the granberg or the panther intersect, But Wonky and I tried making one many years ago. It was all over the place.🤣🤣🤣 If you’re serious about cutting big beams then get the proper kit. One decent log and it’s paid for itself. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] Personally I use a Logosol F2+ to cut beams. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
  19. It’s in Will Malloff’s book: Chainsaw lumber making I would recommend it to anyone who chainsaw mills. Lots of interesting tricks to do with saws and milling. [emoji106] (And use a small saw for the table saw)[emoji6]
  20. How big are those slabs? [emoji848]
  21. Another option... Get an L bracket which fits on the guide bar bolts. A sheet of thick ply on heavy tressels. Then cut a slot for the bar to fit through. Bolt down saw with bar pointing down through ply. Flip the lot and you’ve got a massive table saw. [emoji106]
