  1. But it does look shit though doesn’t it, what ever the story is
  2. My 09 plate hilux, tipper will be for sale in jan/Feb. (With tow bar) [emoji6]
  3. Ha something like that, bank of mum and Dad [emoji57] so much kit he tries to hire it out [emoji23]
  4. Yep, I very recently priced a job for 3 day , for 2 guys at £400 per day, happy with that job was accepted had a phone call two days later saying they had forgotten that they were getting another quote [emoji849], and all though they like me the other guy was a bit cheaper, without saying a word she told me straight out that his £750 was better than my £1200. Told her there was no way I could ever match that [emoji43].
  5. I’m originally from Northampton but have lived in Plymouth for 15-16yrs now. Could never move back to the midlands now, hence our move to Aus in the new year.
  6. Probably around £300-£400 a day ish
  7. I don’t know anyone else that pays more than that around here, the market is a disgusting around here for prices. Some get away with charging more than the average day rate but don’t seem to have regular work and tend to hire there machinery in
  8. What part of the country are you in? Down here in Plymouth and good climber would be £120-£130 a day and Groundsman £80 and not necessarily with out saw. Not sure about the rest of the country but it’s every Tom,Dick and Harry setting up a tree business and pretty much buying the work and undervaluing the industry by quite a lot.
  9. Around £80 here for a Groundsman but know companies that pay less.
  10. You already know the answer to that [emoji57]
  11. First reduction I’ve ever had knocked back in the last 11-12 years. Plymouth council have mostly been pretty fair if I’m honest.
  12. I know bud, it just the drink talking [emoji849][emoji6]
  13. Probably not now you’ve mentioned it. But you get the just of what I was trying to explain not the height/size but the TO thinking on the matter.
  14. Recently had a application denied on the reduction of two oaks around 40ft to reduce all over buy 2-2&1/2 meters where possible. Customer was concerned as both Trees’s overlap a few gardens and was trying to be a good neighbour. The application was rejected because the TO believed it will make reduction points brittle, I personally didn’t think that a 15-20% reduction could do such a thing. First time I’ve ever heard this, it’s not like I’m gonna be lumping big holes out the tree leaving oversized pruning cuts, anything getting reduced by 15-20% will be done buy a silky. Tried getting hold of the TO to understand her reasoning why and maybe learn something new but yet to establish contact.
  15. But back on track, one of our new tree officers believes that reducing trees back to growth points actually makes them brittle. Personally never heard of that and have done thousands of reductions on council, commercial and private trees, never seen any problems?
  16. Well it’s more interesting than quoting for a hedge we can’t see [emoji57]
  17. 3 days for that ? can’t actually believe this thread is real, shocking [emoji849]
  18. Hi bud, I believe you past his details to me[emoji6]. Will have to do two years in nsw before we can go up there but still wanting to settle in Brisbane as Sydney is pretty expensive place to live
  19. I had that one from rough trax. When not in use it just rolls up behind the back window. Or to remove takes a couple of minutes and same to refit I only had to rails with mine just light ally that wedged from side to side lasted years.
  20. Cornish guy out there somewhere? Nick from family tree care, think he’s on Facebook. We are emigrating to Aus in jan/Feb but couldn’t get into Brisbane on a permanent visa so heading to NSW , Sydney for a couple of years first then hope to move up there. Loads of companies out there some will give short contracts or you can just sub on a short term basis. Good luck with it all though buddy [emoji41][emoji1598]
  21. Makes my stomach turn watching that anchor point rip out. Is it really that difficult for some to work out the weight ratio. Good job his Groundsman wasn’t standing to close to that one
  22. I’ve had my Rab latock jacket for 9yrs now and the leggings for 7. The jacket is a single skin so just need to layer up probably but I find really cold or really wet weather a decent baselayer is key. Use mine for mainly dog walks which is always twice a day and been great over Dartmoor also. Being a single skin it rolls up nice into a rucksack if your out and about. I probably waterproof it 2-3 time a year, but will generally wear a cap in really bad rain just to stop driving rain getting in. I personally couldn’t recommend it enough from my own experience. Or check out Ray Mears website most of his stuff is Norwegian.
