  1. Good experiance with them? How long did it take to dry 2" and 3" Oak? What made you move away from them? Any issues with checking etc?
  2. Logosol Kiln? This one? https://www.logosol.com/store/sauno-torkaggregat-vt5-4kw.html Are you up and running yet? Would be interesting to see if its worth me investing in one as well.
  3. Look like regular oak to me? But to be honest I'm not best suited to distinguish? Do they smell different? Sure smells like Oak and the Tannins blackened the chain filings in minutes.
  4. Ok cheers. I was not expecting them to remove it I was not happy. Just expected Id be lumped with it. But if its the norm to inspect first then I'll insist on that.
  5. Yeh, cheers J. I recon I should take the other 10t if its the same quality. If they deliver then Im not limited to the length of my trailer. Is it normal to inspect the load for shake etc before taking delivery or just hope that its all ok?
  6. Yeh, heh heh, no drinking and brexit forums. So did you have to buy the wood at the regular rate or get them cheaper? Do such logs come up often? Cracking looking Trailer! Well jealous! Any chance of your parts list? How much do you recon you've spent on it so far? Did you do all the fab work yourself?
  7. Well, picked up my first two Oak Logs off the guys. Can get another 10 tons delivered of similar sizes, mostly bigger though, guess if I bought them I could quarter saw them on the deck? Just need to get a set of Ramps and a winch to get them up to the Mill.
  8. Awesome, thats great, thank you. Just ordered off of Amazon.
  9. Im kinda just starting out Milling, well two years now. I have very limited experience with what will happen when Slabs start to dry. I thought the Oak would have maybe split down that dark line? Pith maybe? As I say Im still learning and just trying to figure things out. That later pic of the Oak sure does look solid. I agree, the Beech would look great as a resin table. How dry does the wood need to be for that? Not something Ive done yet but hopefully will one day.
  10. Jut playing the Devils Advocate here; If the lump is as the op states then its closer to 60"? Could this be milled on a specialist Bandsaw? I'll guess he'll need to buy the Mill and Bar, thats about a Grand. Plus the losses you mention a Specialist seems to make sense. Will the Specialist take in a Log that might be full of metal?
  11. What condition would you describe these boards and how likely do you think they will remain as one board once dry?
  12. Springs replaced and finished up setting the Saw up. Done a few practice logs and Im fairly happy with the Mill. I'm getting some lateral movement with the Sawhead on the rails. There does not seem to be anthing further for me to adjust. The rails also seem to flex quite a lot. Ive took a video but not sure how to add them here?
  13. Does your HM130 take 800? My Logosol says it will take upto 750mm but I wonder if I could squeeze a little more out of it.
  14. So three tons of Oak for £210? Canny be bad. What kind of sizes? I'll be getting some cheap Oak in a month or two got to Mill a bunch for a friend who's taking down about 10 oaks on his property. Just waiting on his felling licence coming through. He sells me Spruce and Birch at £30 a Ton, but I have to take it home in a Trailer. Its only a 10 minute drive though.
  15. You traveled all the way up to Ayr? Did you have to stay in a Hotel over night? Did you split the slabs with the owner?
  16. No, what the forestry guy said the Sleeper Guy would make per Ton. Its for sale for £150 a ton. I was only interested in the huge section for Milling. I was not interested in the regular stuff. Im really only there for the oak.
  17. Love this! Plan on building something like this myself now Ive got my wee Sawmill.
  18. Hmmmm, Im not so sure. Would be great to see the work in progress though. I know a good Welder actually. He was a Welder for Halliburton back in the day. Could maybe make use of him? Have you left the bed the standard 4.8m or bought extensions? I added the bit below to my last post but you'll not have seen it; Also, how do you intend on powering the hydraulics on the log loader if you get one like in the picture? Enerpac or something like that?
