1. It just goes to show how many variables there are. I feel that if there is a problem with the materials, the issue should be taken up with the manufacturers but with the workmanship how far do you go, 12 months, 2 years? I know someone who put a fence up a few months before Doris struck and it blew the panels out, should he have had to replace them or is that just extreme weather? I personally would have replaced them as reputation is an important thing for me
2. Hey all. I don't do much fencing as my main side is trees but I do some occasionally for a change. I've recently done a job which the customers are happy with and all paid up but they have asked what guarantee the work comes with. Does anyone else offer guarantees for their work, do you add any clauses for extreme weather conditions etc.? Cheers
3. Yep but only 19!
4. I might change my job to shoplifting but I'll only steal 99 things from poundland! Police tell town they will not chase shoplifters who steal less than £100
5. Yep that's quite possibly true. It did look like the deer in the clip you posted touched the wire with it's nose, which would explain why it got zapped
6. Many years ago, I asked our local Wildlife Enforcement Officer what to do about the deer. He suggested a simple 4 foot tall woven wire (field fence) on the outside of my garden, then on the exterior side of the fence placing a horizontal arm about 12 inches out to string a battery or solar "hot" wire used for livestock. Deer prefer to duck under, rather than leap over obstructions, but deer hair is hollow and doesn't conduct an electric current. Our Jefferson County Agent, Phillip, said the secret is to put strips of heavy duty aluminum foil every few feet along the hot wire, smeared with creamy peanut butter. Apparently, deer cannot resist the smell of peanut butter and will stick out a nice sloppy, wet tongue which makes a very good conductor for electricity. My first reaction was, "What if I come out the next morning and there's a deer "stuck" to the fence?" Never batting an eye, he just said, “Dianna, you don't use 220 volts." ("Well, no venison fattened on my apples and grapes tonight.") Just found this on interweb so it must be true!! [QUO
7. I stand corrected! I've seen deer jump through electric fences at the deer park I used to work at and I was informed that because the hair is hollow they don't get zapped. They must have just been well 'ard deer!
8. Think I'd have another chat with your installer as deer have hollow hair so it won't conduct electricity. Hope I've saved you a few quid!
9. Thanks. One was a wind blown so had no choice in it coming down and the other had to come down for safety reasons so they weren't felled just for the timber.
10. Hi. I chap I know has asked to buy these oak stems for milling. I've cut them to his requirements of about 2.4m and the big one with the chainsaw on at 3.4m. The big one is 38" diameter and the the other tree is about 28" diameter although the bottom section has some rot starting in it. I'm not sure on prices for milling so if someone could give me a rough price I'd appreciate it. It's track side in a wood if that helps. Thanks in advance.
11. I bet the South Wales Argus were glad of the story. This is the full article they wrote about a deer rescue. "SOUTH Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the rescue of a deer from the river Wye by Tintern, Monmouthshire, yesterday at around 2.30pm. A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "The deer managed to get out of the river by himself safely." Investigative journalism at its best
12. What kind of van is it eggs? My transit was broken into using a key you can buy off ebay that fits any Ford. As like you, nothing was taken as I don't store tools in there. I thought I'd forgotten to lock it the night before which would have been unusual as I'm normally really careful so I checked my cctv and sure enough I locked it. I then checked and saw 3 scrotes breaking in with the key. The police were really helpful to be fair, only took them 4 weeks to come and view the footage and told me that because they didn't recognise the people there's nothing they could do!
13. Jase, tell your boss that I said you can have a pay rise. That sorted it thank you. I rang Orange Plant where I got it from and I was told that I'd have to take it into their workshop as they had not heard of the problem before so you've saved me about 2hrs of down tools time
14. Took my arborist 130 in for a service a few months ago and since then every time the anti stress kicks in the feed rollers don't just stop, they go into reverse briefly, which quite often spits the brash back out meaning you've constantly got to stand by it feeding the brash back in. I'm not sure if it was something that was changed during the service or it is just a coincidence that it started doing it after. Has anyone any ideas what it might be?
15. I'm just taking one on now. You do have to do it in conjunction with a college. With the college mine is with he has to attend every other Tuesday which is still counted as a work day so he must still be paid. As previously mentioned you get £1500 funding after around 3-4 months of him starting which I use for PPE, tickets etc. but if you wanted you could spend it on t bags so he gets really good at making the brews before his apprenticeship finishes
16.
Great thanks. My number is 07834 805707 if you need it.

17. PM sent (I hope!)
18.

Hi. I would be willing to come and help you. Not sure if you remember but I believe I've done a job just round the corner from you before in kings Bromley and you had some of the timber from me. I'm Flitchwood Tree Services. If you still need someone, let me know what sort of thing you're after and I'll see if I can help.

Cheers, Chris

20. That's the one. Girls with moustaches
21. Sudbury in Derbyshire eggs
22. Yes Tom, not very far. Got broken into twice when they were here but I don't think it was them. I think it was other local scallies doing it hoping that the travellers got the blame!
23. Just had exactly the same thing happen here. Cut down an 11000 voltage consumer box, tried running a security guard over, burning out cars, speeding, poaching, sh1tt1ng everywhere and fly tipping. It only lasted 5 weeks 😠
24. Got this text last night Hi, we have a biggish garden and I have a few trees that need removing (an old dead beach, another beach, an Xmas tree the previous owners planed in the middle of the lawn and something else deadish....). Got a quote today that will be mad when the guy sends it. Are you interested in quoting? This is prob first of several jobs we will need. But I don't want to get into negotiations or silly levels of quote like the guy today as it wastes time all round. We live on wood lane. Let me know what you think and if you want to pop round? Thx Sounds like it might be a time waster to me, wanting to get work done for next to nothing. I always think you can tell when they say (give me a cheep price now) that there might be a lot more work in the future. I think my response will be something like "yes I'll be interested in quoting but it sounds like you have quite a bit of work that needs doing, so as long as you are not expecting to pay cowboy prices for professional levels of work because as you say this will benefit nobody"
25. Just watched the old video of the chap climbing the tree. What a pussy wearing gloves, they had it easy back then.
