I’d agree with that, if you are going to have strong opinions on taxation and make a lot of comments about people’s earnings, twin cab pick usage and tax, dayrates etc etc all over the forum then a simple question about what angle are you looking at it from ie role and employment status is not a huge ask. Maybe Gareth is right HMRC, i think they have rather a large office in Glasgow 🤔. Glasgow central 4min walk 🚶

Been tried Mark doesn’t work, most recently Norway. How about lowering taxes further down maybe an incentive to graft rather than batter people when they get over 50k You are ok with your previous post about him being a threat but see no correlation between the current tax bands and maintaining the status quo 🤷♂️. We ain’t never gonna tax our way out of debt Mark. Give people a chance to get up which none of the recent governments have and this one in particular look hell bent on keeping people down.

I’ll give you a little example SP, for one days milling “ a regular customer otherwise I’d not have done it, and as any small business owner or self employed will tell you, your customer base is important” entailed a days sharpening and setting blades plus prep of mill, the mill like any machine will not run on fairy dust and no maintenance. Deliver mill to site on Friday 21st Feb. On site 0700 with generator on trailer Sat 22nd Feb, mill from 0800-1800 pack up and drop generator and trailer off at yard, back to site collect mill and drop off at yard, bit of maintenance and cover for shit weather forecast. Back via Turriff to collect kids at 2230 as I’m passing that way anyway and home for 2300. Back to mill on Sunday 23rd finish off the maintenance and collect blades ready for sharpening and setting for next job. Your version of events is literally fantasy land stuff. What do you do for a living SP ??

Your total reluctance to answer this simple often asked question is really really quite strange behaviour considering how much you have to say about other people’s activities. You seriously think that’s all there is too it eh 😂😂 I wish you were right in all reality but unfortunately you are utterly clueless on the matter. By far the easiest option would be to give in and take an easy 9/5 40hrs a week salaried position.

Better to be honest and open, none of it was ever given it was all earned. In this instance I’ve got more invested in it than a train commuter who seems obsessed by other peoples earnings, you still haven’t answered the question about the extra tax on those who use and need them. See you are doing what you guys often do and that is assuming, I wanted to replace my 68 plate 106k Ranger in June, that’s out the window now due to a fool of a government’s foolhardy decision. Who said anything about a new single cab pick up !! I said tow vehicle. Can I ask why you and a few others are so against a self employed person or a small business owner getting a break in regards tax bearing in mind to run as self employed or a small business is far from easy in any way shape or form, we certainly don’t get many perks or breaks 🤷♂️. From what I see on-here and witnessed during the covid farce I think this disgusting policy will be a big hit with that special kind of envious wanker we seem to see more and more of nowadays. I’m not sure of any mills nearby but Tegid from supersharp might be a good shout for info. I know some lads in Barmouth who run some 4x4 Lorrie’s/mogs with hiabs who can get stuff out of most places, which might make it easier to take to a mill 🤷♂️. A bandsaw would be best but that size log is easily done in a day with a good chainsaw mill set up. I’d not go less than 3” in fact I’d probably go thicker for now especially the centre slab. They ain’t gonna be light to shift mind and will take a good while to dry. Stick a pic of the log up if you get the chance. Good luck -
