Reading an NHS statistic earlier today and currently on a per day basis more men are dying from prostrate cancer and more women from breast cancer than Covid ?♂️, not combined but individually. This whole farce is like lying to the mrs about the cost of a new tool or bit of kit, even way after the moment you are so committed to the lie you can’t get out of it.
-
I got it? Totally exposes the hypocrisy of the people imposing such restrictions on people in the name of public health.
-
No not at all, same as I don’t know anyone in person whom has died from Flu etc, yes it happens but its part of life. My point is that the reaction to it has been out of all proportion to its severity from day one. Many time’s it had seemed like an exercise in pure stupidity by the so called governments concerned. Or more cynically an attempt to see how far things can actually be pushed no matter how draconian they are in the name of public health. The point you made about might die is correct, I might die tomorrow of a multitude of things many of which I may have contributed to myself. Diet, Drinking, smoking if I did which I don’t, excessive promiscuous sexual activity I wish I did but I don’t or just by pure accident. The point is you simply cannot go on as we are based upon it might happen and maybes the second wave will come. I said in several previous posts and as for example the current situation in Belarus ?? shows power is very hard to give up once acquired.

Reading through the replies to this post it’s funny to see the die hard wear a mask it’s no big deal types now seeming to come to the conclusion that quite a few on here have always had that this whole virus is a massively overhyped total mess up. Billions wasted, mental health hammered and kids education damaged. I’ve now been tested 4 times for work reasons each one a negative, serco and the other companies are making millions out of the whole testing sham. I know one person within my work group whom has tested positive after hitting the bars in Aberdeen, he was totally symptom free and had no idea until the test result that he had it. The reaction to the whole thing is beyond stupidity, One of guys I work with his Mother is a senior consultant for the NHS specialising in cardiovascular problems and when I hear people of that standing say the reaction to it is out of all proportion and the side effects in regards other illnesses being neglected is far worse than the virus itself I’ll tend to believe them rather than the hysterical media. Her views on the nightingale hospitals are they are an utter waste of money. Does it exist of course it does just as normal cold or flu exists. I still don’t know anyone whom has died of it and asking around both teams on the project I’m on neither do any of the other 40 plus guys. The powers and mandate this has given political leaders is frightening, the ability for a handful of individuals to make unaccountable decisions that are then enforced with ever increasing police powers is something we have never experienced to this extent in the UK. I for one and many of the people I work with have not been comfortable with this from day one. Thankfully a few more Of the general public seem to be seeing through this hysteria. The phrase new normal used in the context of accepting the controls imposed upon us in the name of public health etc etc is one of the most disgusting and pathetic things I’ve ever heard.

Get both of you tested at an nhs test centre for peace of mind and just get on with things as per normal.

Best of time’s Andy, precious bud ? cost nothing.
-
Tobacco now there’s a global killer that no one seems too fussed about. WHO figures state 8million deaths annually worldwide of which 1.2 million are a result of passive smoking ?.
-
Not mine but snapped it as you don’t often see them around nowadays.
-
Look online for metal brite, all pretty much the same product, but can be bought much cheaper from industrial suppliers.
-
Good to see it in use Andy ?.

Well last night and this morning here in Aberdeenshire is probably the most spectacular display of lightning I’ve ever seen in the UK. Phones are out are out as one of the telegraph poles was struck. Unfortunately it looks like the weather has played its part in the tragic train incident near Stonehaven.

Building society, pet shop yesterday & builders merchants today, distancing is still being practiced but the mask wearing is from what I can see being resisted and rightly so.
-
As long as it’s built in Britain otherwise it’s just yet another kick in the balls for UK manufacturing.
-
No I guess you wouldn’t have. Good reply I will give you that.

Just sat and watched the daily SNP party political broadcast. That’s me more than ever convinced that Sturgeon has no real desire for this platform it affords her to be removed. Two weeks no deaths 2-3 people in ICU out of a population of 5.5 million yet she won’t budge on many issues or give real dates on allowing the country to try and get back on its feet. Possible gyms and swimming pools reopening on 14sept ?♂️?♂️Where the **************** does she pull these dates from. The feeling I get is she is just waiting desperately for any excuse to prolong this bullshit rather than move on.

Kriss I’ve dived commercially in the UK N sea and worldwide for 30 years bud, qualified IMCA supervisor and Diver Medic tech. The dramatic ott symptoms you describe are quite frankly wrong and typical dramatisation of anything to do with this virus, what you describe would in fact at best be a symptom of pulmonary barotrauma or AGE ( Arterial Gas Embolism) and would follow an uncontrolled or rapid ascent not just sitting at 3ATA. Diving doctors diagnosis of any DCI is a complex and variable affair based upon many factors including dive profile ie depth and time and exertion etc. I’m well aware of Dr Phil Brysons latest DEMAC recommendation and all divers heading offshore are now obliged to carry out the Chester step test pre joining a vessel to ascertain any potential loss of performance due to asymptotic Covid issues. The lung scarring issue is not fully understood as of yet and the industry consensus is its using a sledge hammer to knock a tack in with the ensuing damage to lads livelihoods, we all know this is the already seen and yet to be fully appreciated outcome of a lot of the ridiculous poorly thought out Corona measures imposed upon people. On a different subject I’ve just come back from my nearest town as a trip to the building society was in order and at the same time I took my 11yr old twins to the local pet shop. Thankfully at both locations common sense prevailed, the staff at the building society were not wearing masks, I asked if they wanted me to as well bearing in mind they were sitting behind Perspex screens to which I received the answer you don’t have too in here and a roll of the eyes. The old boy in the pet shop was totally against it and made no effort at all to enforce it or wear one himself. Personnel choice and a bit of old fashioned common sense. I’ll also even though it’s not my normal practice try and pay cash whenever possible going forward.

I can’t comment on the effectiveness of this medication as a treatment but what is plain to see even on a forum for people in the “tree game” is that opinion that differs from that put out by the media etc or those whom agree with it are vilified and attacked, those people whom question the media etc and route of action taken by government are hit with verbal abuse, shamed for being uncaring and selfish told that their opinions ain’t welcome. We are told to just get on with it be a good citizen don’t question anything wear your mask don’t use cash, do this with whom when and where and how far apart etc etc etc, all instructions passed down by individuals whom have no idea of the effects that this is actually having on people. An earlier post asked if I’d experienced anyone in ICU for 3 months and the answer is no I have not, I actually do not know anyone whom has had a Covid 19 symptoms that has resulted in a visit to hospital with a confirmed case, that includes working on vessels with Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish, Romanian, Ukrainian, Dutch, Irish and British crew members. But in reality bearing in mind the figures that are actually spoken of vs the population that’s not really surprising if you think about it. Does Covid exist, yes of course it does, do I believe the dark lord is sitting in a room with a master plan to control us ?♂️No I don’t. Do I think the measures taken are wrong, yes I do massively. Do I think power is addictive for politicians yes I do and countless historical references can confirm it. what I do know is at least two guys who’s homes are now on the market as a result of financial hardship caused by the lockdown. I personally know at least 15 people all with families etc that have lost their jobs. We are not even seeing the tip of the iceberg in relation to mental health, job losses and subsequent financial disaster. I can’t help but go back to the post regarding replies preferably from those in tree game and basically by the tone of the post those that conform with my own views ?♂️?♂️?♂️Think about that for a minute. Or to put it another way “tell me what I want to hear”
-
Now are you sure you can meet the previously mentioned criteria to be allowed to post in regards this subject ???.
-
I used an old ex MOD Dan Arm air powered one years ago, not the safest of things as it was operated by a 3/4 inch quarter turn valve with no dead mans handle etc. They are available Les commercially for the inshore diving game but certainly ain’t cheap.
-
Gonna strip them both Les and see how it goes once rebuilt and hooked up to a power source. If they have a decent amount of grunt they will hopefully be put back to work doing timber jetty repairs/ removals etc
-
Pics are as they came straight out of storage, to be honest I didn’t even realise they were in there as it was two hydraulic Stanley impact wrenches I was after not all the other stuff in the crate. Gonna pop up to Strathbogie saws and try and match the bar and chain as soon as I get the chance.
-
Came across these in a job lot of hydraulic tools. Gonna see if they can be brought back to life. Should think the motors will be fine possibly a few seals to replace on triggers. Anyone seen or used them before ??.
-
Did you feel the need to wear a mask ??

Not at all VI that’s my point ie I look at this from a different angle than K which he obviously finds a tad annoying.
