  1. When buying my trousers I put them on over my cargos then ordered the next size up. Anticipating a possible expanding waist or full pockets or when working in the cold
  2. Both are comfortable for work and walking and I have both, but my scafell lites have split above the heel protection after six months. I would say go for the meindls
  3. I'll do this if I need to wedge a big trunk with two wedges, I have a toothed wedge and a slick one that slides in to the cut when the trunk leans over on the hinge. kinda like a safety/security backup when hammering the grippy toothed wedge in to the cut the slick one slides in deeper on its own under gravity keeping the cut open
  4. I've got my ms150t on the bench, I'm just looking at putting an extra hole or Louvre in the exhaust to possibly boost performance
  5. short vid posted in the video section if your interested
  6. Short vid of the 051 cutting firewood A bit slow but has loads of raw torque
  7. Reducing an oak stump in the garden
  8. Not that I need it right now but does anyone know where I can find the IPL for the ms150t. I have the owners manual but I like to know the part number of any parts that I need to order
  9. I've got a cheap cleaner from the bay, the solvent I used melted the bowl and on/off switch ( totally my fault) so the next one I get will be stainless steel
  10. Hi muttley The 051 has two bars a 25" and 30",and when the saws not playing up it pulls like a train, One of the reasons I bought the 661 was due to breakdowns and of the 051 but the 051 is of a similar age to me if not older ??? And parts are getting harder to find and bloody expensive
  11. Here's a better one from a few weeks back
  12. I'm looking for part numbers for a clutch cover for a husqvarna 140e, the original has the tool-less tensioner/locking wheel but I'm after one that will tighten on with a nut and tension with a screwdriver. Do they even make one ?? can anyone help please
  13. I'd like to defend my self by saying that i cut most of them short as i came down the tree but from those angles its not worth it, and i can take a little ribbing and as my teacher said "ten fingers, ten toes and no damage" it's a good days work.
  14. a little connifer bashing for this morning and a nice view from the "office window" of the haute vienne
  15. also i run both the 391 and 661 on either 20" or 23" bars for every day use, if i need to i have a 32" for the big trunks for the 661. anything over 32" i break out the old 051 or borrow a 880 but thats very rare
  16. I have a 661 and can use it all day as a general saw or for big work all week if necessary, the 880 can be used for a day as a large saw and then I really dislike it for about a week or till I recover. I have a mate who's got a 441 and IMHO it's not much better than my 391 or the 411
  17. Thanks again for the replies I've got some thicker rubber enough for a couple of plugs but I'll get some mud flaps for the older tilly carbs for the 051 and 041's a I have
  18. Thanks for the replies, i'll be testing crank seals and oil seals
  19. I have a comp test kit just turned up in the post all well and good and I understand that I will need to seal the exhaust and carb sides of the cylinder. So my question is what do you use for the temporary seals? , I have some tyre inner tube that I can cut for gaskets but do you place a profiled blank (steel, rigid plastic or alu ) over or just place the carb back on and screwed down tight? I'd like to see as much as possible and reduce the amount of clutter so I can see any possible leaks. I'm not really enthusiastic about grinding dozens of gaskets/plates for every two stroke engine I see if not needed
  20. I've had a cheap Chinese saw that needed a carb tune, I thought it would be a nightmare but went really well. I'm having more trouble with my ms250 carb settings after a full hose replacement job and a fuel side service
  21. it only had 30 hours on it
  22. piston from my old Stihl 038
  23. I've got to say my old 038 ( my first stihl ) . it's a metal one when i bought it from Ebay , i started it and used it all was good in the world then i realised i was only pulling the trigger half way. There was a stub of stick in the handle stopping the trigger once removed the thing was a rocket and ate all i put in front of it. Ive relegated it to firewood processing at home now but it's a pleasure to work with and it's a little better since it's had a new pot and piston and carb fitted
