  1. Morning all, Early start for a quick easy fell in an industrial unit before they start work. The mornings and evenings are certainly getting darker now.
  2. Morning all, "Carrying out all aspects of tree and ground work in the Cairngorms." What stunning photos/views those are, just fantastic. We are taking down a very dead Lime today. I will have some good views from the MEWP over the Staffordshire Moorlands. Meanwhile some guys start the day trying to find parking space near enough to the job. I feel their hassle.
  3. Very good point!
  4. Good idea. Bet one hose is too short to fit the other side😂
  5. Hose breaking down internally, restricting flow?
  6. Finished dismantling this Lime near home yesterday. Customer wanted it down to make way for photovoltaic panels. Trunk is 5ft form the house wall. Appeared healthy enough. Had previously been topped off where trunk was about 16 - 18 inch diameter and had grown 15ft shoots since then. Cavity went to below ground and to about 18ft above. Customer was please they had it down!
  7. Oh they would have been so tedious if they had to be a climb and dismantle.
  8. Morning all. Raining here, and likely most of the day. Finished a two day job yesterday (Mon + Weds as rain++ Tuesday). Lazy day today/admin then Friday and Saturday good weather again.
  9. Sorry, but no way is it coming back.
  10. Morning all, copious cats and dogs outside. None of us have any desire to get soaked through, so we will resume dismantling large lime 6ft from house tomorrow. If it clears later we can collect yesterday's timber.
  11. Bit of light rain late morning, clouds started to look like the thunderstorm forecast might happen so stopped using the (steel) MEWP at half two. Fair old rain and win at present and occasional flashes of lightning. Nice and cool now.
  12. Morning all, We're working all of 1,500 metres by road, or 850 as the crow flies, from home for the next three or four days. Still have to be up at usual time or you know who will want to know why breakfast is late.
  13. It would be rude not to!
  14. Offcut of resin coated plywood under the wheel
  15. Please Miss, I didn't do a wee wee all afternoon in this heat. Can I use that as a credit note for wee wees during lessons in winter?
  16. Thank crunchy I don't do site work on Fridays these days😀. Just had breakfast with my beloved, now to spend the day pottering out of the sun, Loler on the MEWP, machinery maintenance etc. Put me on the register for half a day's attendance Miss.
  17. They also grow back very quickly after pruning.
  18. Agreed. Try telling Stoke on Trent City Council.
  19. Time go early miss/sir. I was here on time, but have done some work and it is lovely and hot and my ready mix concrete that was delivered at 9am, just when assembly was happening, is now hard enough to walk on.
  20. Quite agree. One of our local tree officers is excellent and would never do this. Years ago I checked with him that a large roadside Oak near me was not protected as the customer wanted to fell it (having built a house extension under it!). The TO said it was not protected but that it was worthy of a TPO and he would put one on it very soon. He openly left me with the option to get on and fell it quickly while I could. The customer is a local PITA, the tree is lovely, so I did not rush and it got protected. The TO and I respect each other and it works well. Flip side: Another local council are the opposite. I reduced a largish Holly in a conservation area several years ago, with permission. It has since died, deceased, snuffed it, become a tree no longer, had its chips and gone to meet its maker. See photo. Owner applied with photo evidence to take it down. Council told him they need a tree surgeon's report to confirm it is dead! I reckon I could probably snap the trunk if I pushed hard enough on it. Sorry for semi derailing thread but its shows what a lottery it can be dealing with councils.
  21. That is always a bit of a warning to me that the customer might be fussy. Just my opinion though.
  22. Only time I put a bungee on my Silky is if I am over a greenhouse/something equally brittle and costly. Otherwise they are a PITA, always snagging on everything.
  23. Had breakfast, cleared the M1 southbound (bowels moved, very important before get to site!), on second coffee waiting for team to arrive.
  24. I prefer Messrs Fellem and Scarper
  25. Mostly within 6-7 miles, rare to go more than fifteen miles now. Did a two day job this week along a remote no through lane. The rush hour was fantastic, herd of 70 odd milkers, and two ramblers. Hardly saw another soul all day. Bliss.
