    Morning all, Promise of some rain and some dry today; a politician's forecast perhaps. A day in the MEWP reducing connie hedge, at least easier to wear decent waterproofs in MEWP compared to climbing😀

    Evening all, Been playing truant, but got good excuse. Been away to Brum for 2 days for a 40yr graduation reunion. Amazing how some of the mob still look young and some look ancient. Weather was quite nice actually. Back to trees tomorrow.

    Agreed, they hate their neighbours, not you. Often a simple friendly request will be enough. Agreed entirely. It also covers the unlikely scenario that the neighbour is just impossible with everyone and gives you the option to decline the job.

    Morning all, Misty here, off to cut another laurel hedge. I'll try not to slip on wet leaves this time! Think my wife is sensible, still in bed. Dog has had breakfast and back on her day bed.

    One of my men has been off for 5 days, back in tomorrow. Been glamping at Southport. I had assumed drowned bog rat scenario but he says it's been really good.

    Morning all, Light rain here, easy morning felling multistemmed conifers, no need to climb them. Within half a mile of the butty bar😀, then only another half mile to the tip site, then 2 miles to home. Have a good day everyone.

    Morning all, Good forecast here and back to work. Side pruning some trees for a nice regular customer, using the MEWP. Have a good day all.

    I initially bought some 8x4 stokboards to protect the ground under my mini digger, when needed. Rapidly changed to using OSB boards as so much easier to move around. Also I can use the OSB boards to fix to a fence post knocked in lightly to make a temporary box to chip into on site, typically with a decent amount of chip being made in rear garden where tracked chipper just managed to get in and customer (with or without persuasion) wants to keep all the chip

    Couldn't agree more. I have had a Kubota STV40 for many years now. I have the 1.25m wide bucket on the loader, with a really heavy weight on the back. A bucketful of logs is one thing, but a bucket of stone and it gets a bit twitchy. I am considering pallet forks for the rear 3 pt mounting for general purpose. Years ago I bought a simple "jib" crane for the 3pt, and combined with a hydraulic top link is very good if you a wanting to move long sections of timber. One one job we had to clear 90 large conifers, so we brought in a chap with 12 inch pto chipper and sileage type trailers. The Kubota with the crane was happy dragging whole large conifers to the chipper.

    It's morning somewhere in the world, so morning all. Chucked it down all day, still taking it gently. Wood boiler running, house warm, good book.

    Sorry for the derail, but don't you just love the occasional idiot who rings up wanting "a ton of logs", or in my case more likely "a ton of chippings/bark

    That made me laugh. We use to call my mate's first single wheel Izuzu the dung beetle the way it wallowed about.

    Yes, all the better. I had to replace two fairly new rear tyres because a lad ignored the cyclical noise caused by a piece of wood trapped between the two tyres, sidewalls were too badly damaged by time he got back to the yard💩
