  1. Been trading nearly 20 years and we are at the busiest we have ever been. Any newly accepted jobs won't be done until January unless they are little gap fillers. I think most teams in our area are finding the same.
  2. So true. I am 60 now and still do most of our climbing, but there is no way I can mange the wide hedges any more. I leave that to the young ones with more strength than me. Most days the groundies have a harder time than I do up the trees.
  3. Heard good stuff about FSI, seen them at APF shows and seem good, but never owner one.
  4. I have a local builder who uses a bit of my yard. He pays me with once used dumpy bags rather than money. Could you offer a "disposal service" to any local small building firms?
  5. Computer did that - it assumed cos I highlighted the bit where you quoted Rob, that it was you who had said it? Honest guv, I am not guilty of fraud!
  6. That is so last decade, or older. Got replace by the more PC "learning difficulties/disability" One subby tried using the gaffs on some spikes to open the fuel cap on our slagsaw (MS170). Let's just say he doesn't sub to me anymore?
  7. Indeed so, but might we ask if it is "fit for purpose"?
  8. How about "dunderheads", or "cerebrally challenged"?
  9. I would use my steam cleaner. If you have not got one/access to one try soaking it in diesel for 24 hrs or more then brush/blow off the crap. I also find brake cleaning spray very good in these situations.
  10. Sorry to derail thread, but sort of relevant here - anyone else find the 2511 gets its air filter clogged with water in heavy rain? I love this saw, interested in this chain/bar upgrade option.
  11. Agree entirely with the above. However, if you end up doing this work with any frequency, wearing a pair of chainsaw trousers if it is not 20 degrees centigrade will offer you protection against other people with saws (lets face it most people get too close occasionally) and also against scraped shins etc if you trip, or drop a piece of timber etc.
  12. Problem with that is that you then have the drawbar sticking out into the road with most inline chippers.
  13. Out of interest, what are the commonest problems with Forst? I have had a TR6 for 4 years, and the only problems have been a faulty ignition switch, which they sorted very quickly under warranty.
  14. If you are buying road tow it might be worth serious thought about a turntable one. I am on my second turntable chipper now (Jensen 540), and we find it a really useful option. If having to park on the road outside customer's house/premises we can stack brash on the drive, with the hopper facing the pile and we are not standing the road to chip ing thet. Also gives the option to angle the hopper towards where brash coming from, so can avoid the energy drain of sometimes having to turn the branches through an angle to feed them; I realise that is more of an issue with a chipper with larger capacity. Forst are about to start selling their petrol 750kg turntable chipper, and for the first month will be offering it at £16,500 + VAT.
  15. Try Benbow Brothers from Shrewsbury. Easy to find them on the net.
  16. Bit like Vicar of Dibley crossed with Little Britain. Nononononononononono, yes. Yeabutnobutyeabutnobut
  17. There is no damage to the wheelarch liner?
  18. The tyre is off/outside the rim on the inner side.
  19. V6 1200M Bluetooth Intercom Motorcycle Helmet Headset BT Motorbike Interphone 2X, available on ebay £60 inc VAT for 2 headsets. I had some slightly cheaper ones off ebay, main problem was the feable jackplug and socket, also poor battery life. The V6 1200M is great - good quality jackplug, battery lasts a whole day, and charges very quickly. Sound quality is good/excellent. I drilled the right hand ear defender on the bottom of the cup to feed the mike flexi stem through. Works much better/more comfortable that way. I have removed the clamp from the body of it and drilled the bottom lip of the helmet at the back to fix it more securely. We only use these helmets when we need intercom, reduces risk of damage. I rate these as excellent value.
  20. Rosiedog is not so sure about the uniform.
  21. And that is why I changed years ago to only selling unseasoned logs, and my minimum quantity for delivery has been 2 cu metres for ages, as I am not interested in hitching up a trailer, loading it and delivering, then parking it up again just for one cubic metre. Even less enthusiastic about 1 cube of seasoned only to be greeted by Mr Hatchet with Mrs Mositure Meter ?
  22. But because I am VAT registered and can claim my VAT back on most of my expenses, I am reducing my running costs s and can afford to quote a bit cheaper anyway.
