  1. A friend of mine tells me that he collects all the ash from his biomass boiler and puts it back in his woodland. The theory being that it puts fertility back instead of just taking it out. I'm wondering if its a good idea? Anyone else do this?
  2. Even Dave was surprised he got a majority
  3. No, 11,334,576 votes for the Torys against 9,347,304 for Labour. Then we have to add in the votes for the Liberals, UKIP, Greens, SNP etc. Our flawed electoral sytem then turned that into a wafer thin twelve seat majority. I don't see any big winners there.
  4. Considering the Torys only won the suport of around 24% of the electorate Its hard to see the reult as a 'trouncing'. Doesn't look to me as if the public are very keen on either the blue Torys or the red Torys.
  5. Lots of businesspeople thought Osbourne got it wrong too - no tax credit top up would mean less profits for shareholders
  6. I agree GreenGui
  7. Its the Tory and Republican preference for Liberal economic policies thats caused the problems. Thats the banks were nationalised and thats why the Tory government is printing money.
  8. Marxism didn't cause our economic problems, that would be neoliberalism.
  9. And once every five years or so they take a decision that actually has some effect.
  10. Ha ha - me too Blackadders machinations remind me of Osbourne and Baldrics dress sense is similar ro Corbyns
  11. Looks like the Lords have sorted this one out for now. Good to see the upper chamber actually doing something for a change.
  12. 'positive emigration' - you mean transportation. Better have a word with the Aussies see if they'll help you out with that one.
  13. I had to take my saw into the dealer on Friday - thats why I'm flagging up the problem. Its a little embarrasing asking for help from your local dealer when you've had a cheap price internet deal They weren't best pleased to be honest and who can blame them. They did offer to take a look at it that day and give me a call - still waiting for the phone to ring ....
  14. I have a Husky 135, good saw. Buy from your local dealer I'd say. Mine was bought online but its not worth saving the fifty quid IMHO. When you take it in the first question will be 'where did you buy it'. If you didn't buy from them you can't expect them to make servicing your saw a priority.
  15. I think its a mistake to go with something professional' or 'grown-up'. Keep it unusal, memorable and 'you'
  16. Some old friends of my parents got in touch with me earlier in the summer. They left the UK forty years ago to live in New Zealand but were back for a holiday. Turns out they won half a million on a lottery in Australia and had decided to spend some of it visiting all their friends. They were having a great time spending the cash and I was interested to discover that real people actually do win these things - been buying a ticket every week since
  17. I'm settled in on the sofa ready for this one
  18. Excellent article in the FT about Corbyn's Labour today: http://http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/d0f0e212-6773-11e5-a57f-21b88f7d973f.html#axzz3nLa7Rsv8 Its behind a paywall however if you Google 'Two cheers for Jeremy Corbyn’s challenges to economic convention' you might get a free read
  19. He'd have seemd positively racy Kevin I'm just listening to the news - the presenter said that Dave took part in 'a bizarre initiation ceremony involving a pig' Then we had Toby Young saying he though the PM 'came out of it rather well' Hilarious
  20. I don't know about anyone else but I was getting bored of the new politics anyway. Good to see the Daily Mail's got us back to talking about the issues that really matter, like who stuck their knob in who, or what
  21. Looks great - thanks Paul
  22. Good old Dave If he porks a pig he'll get my vote Mind you if Corbyn shags a chicken I may have to change my mind
  23. I don't think Mike Ashcroft has got the hang of the new politics just yet has he
  24. Don't forget France. Its really quite embarrasing when you get over the channel and onto a TGV. Fantastic trains and as far as I'm aware run by the state owned SNCF?
  25. Got it Gary. If thats the case then I'd say they're being pretty economical with the truth
