Cheers all. It has been modified just recently to include a tipping buck. Previously had a normal standard buck.

Just had our Ford Ranger modified with a proper tipping buck. Work was done professionally and not in the yard. Can you recommend insurers for me as a lot of insurance companies are turning me down. Any other useful advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

I use ESS ballistic glasses. They're issued to the military so there's plenty knocking around at a good price. They wrap around, have interchangeable lenses and are obviously ballistic. I'm trying to bolster up security at my yard a little. I'm after a security light/ motion light/ spot light or whatever you want to call it. I haven't asked the farmer if I can get into his mains connection yet so I'm possible going to have to find a battery or solar powered one. Any recommendations?

Kevin, Spot on, nice little summary. Yes, I did do a bit of reading on it and once CIS registered you still need to declare what you have paid to the subbies, even if you have not paid anyone that month. I believe the deadline is the 20th of each month and there's penalties for going over. We have the Labour Party to thank for that one! Cheers for your input. As you say I'm sure the 'Arbtalk crew' will be here soon to tell us otherwise.

Me too, it's quite literally shocking. I'm assuming tree surgery and arboriculture in general does not fall under the CIS scheme unless I'm working on a building site that IS under the scheme?!

If paying your self-employed groundy for a few days a week do you pay in cash and take the hit by not claiming it as an expense or do you use the proper CIS system of using subcontractors and take 20% before paying them?

Agreed, was thinking if the benefits outweigh the associated costs. Slow payers is a good one but majority of generations can conduct a bank transfer these days. If not then a check will suffice...

Seen a few threads on this but it's an ever changing subject so thought I'd ask again. Anybody take payment via card with a Paypal or Barclays card machine? In a nutshell Barclays take approx 2.6% of the payment amount with no initial fee with Paypal taking an initial small fee (approx £50) and then 2.7% of the payment amount. Is it worth it? Thoughts?
