Magpies are notorious for working up&down and in&out hedge rows searching for song birds nests, these they will raid of eggs, young chicks, any un-fledged chick will become a meal. I use half rabbits as a food source when using a decoy bird in a larson cage. No doubt they eat meat.

Most of these companies recycle shipping boxes, so some packer in a warehouse just goes and finds the first box that is bigger than the item and bingo we end up with over sized packages!

Your quite right, but it was a perceptible difference IMO. The vibration could be from multiple things, but seemed to much of a coincidence for me...

Im usually working to hard & fast to have cold hands, even over the last few weeks. However, I borrowed a mates 560 with heated handles as mine (without heated handles) was broken. I noticed two things- the XPG was heavier- running exactly the same bar/chain/pitch I could feel the difference all day. Second- I felt and remain convinced there was slightly more vibration coming through the front handle on the XPG than on my standard saw. Never had a problem with white finger on modern saws, the current Husky AV springs are very efficient.

I bought my 560xp (in Sussex) last January, did c600 hours by September when the break-band broke on a larch job in Cumbria. I got one of the guys on site to take it in to his dealer after work- (with a copy of my details and proof of purchase) The dealer replaced the band there and then- and they claimed it on Warranty from husky. So regardless of if FR Jones will do it your local guys should!

All this talk of using an 8 pin sprocket makes me curious... I'm currently running standard 7 pin on .325 Is this the correct 8 pin sprocket for my 560? .325"-SMALL7-8 Replaceable Rim - 11891 - New Saw Chains Thought I'd give it a shot and if nothing else i've got another spare.

Think you'l find you need employers liability to employ your son? You certainly will if you are employing a laborer, even if they are self employed, as soon as you instruct them to do anything, in return for pay you become an employer. Only way around it (I think) would be if you show them a job- eg strimming 100metre foot path and they give you a written quote for the work (£50 for example) and they then get on with it and invoice you after completion.

If you can make the time to get out say 3 times a week, 3 mile run straight after work weight'l soon vanish!

Commercial forestry, so cutting and stacking flat out 5 days a week, put serious competitive hill running on top of that and you end up pretty damn fit and lean

I've done hundreds of hours behind a strimmer-both with nylon and a blade but dont have tickets for one. Iv'e used a 576xp, mostly for crosscutting big timber. Its a cracking saw, easily pulls a 3/8th chain on 24 inch bar

Dont touch it. If you cordon off the footpath people will either ignore your efforts or you'l get a letter from the council saying its an offence to block public footpaths. OR If you do nothing it might fall and squash someone but will probably remain hung up until 'persuaded' down. Best bet is keep on trying to contact the council, by all means put up a notice pointing out the dangers to footpath users but its probably unlikely that this tree will fall right down unless it is only just hanging on a small limb? Impossible to say without photos. -

Rough rule of thumb divide saws cc by 3 and you've got your max bar length, 70cc =24"bar but husky suggest up to 28". Husqvarna 365 - Professional chainsaws

Im in Aberdeenshire, work full time in commercial forestry so could potentially spare a day (for a dram) to run through the basics with you. I still think you need CS30 but if you've got an ounce of common sense you should be fine.

Are you planning on milling the stick or is the whole lot going for firewood? Either are pretty big saws, so they (395xp in-particular) dont leave much scope for work other than milling or felling & cross cutting big timber. If your looking for something which will cope with felling & processing this for firewood but then can be used as a good utility saw I'd say a 560xp is a better bet. Even with an 18inch bar you should be able to double cut the gob on that and bore out the heart wood before felling. a 20" bar will give you an extra 4inches whilst cross cutting.

Problem with using the chain break is you cant then be going hell for leather at timber full on the throttle.

Comparing cheap bars to Husky bars is a bit pointless IMO as husky bars are crap- (im a die-hard husky user) the sooner I can get an Oregon pro-lite on my saws the better! Looking 3 months commercial forestry from Oregon bars, opposed to maybe 6 weeks on an equivalent husky.
