  1. Exactly. Something is causing it. Nothing I am doing is any different from before or with any of my other saws. Brake band is an idea….
  2. Clutch is fairly new so I think unlikely but you never know
  3. I get what you are saying. But why now? The saw is years old and never had a problem before.
  4. My 550xp seems to be chewing through needle bearings. Just had one go today that is only 5 weeks old and some days or even weeks the saw doesn't even get used. The one before that lasted 3 months. When I took the last one off it was almost melted on to the inside of the clutch drum. And today the same sypmtoms......chain spinning on idle and when chain brake applied the saw stalls, presumably because the crank can't turn. So I am assuming when I take this one off it will be same. Once is an oddity but twice....makes me want to know what is going on? Is there a deeper issue here that needs correcting as well? Thoughts welcome!!
  5. Thanks. How long for climbing? As a freelance climber not sure what light duties would entail!!
  6. How did the recovery and return to work go? Just got my diagnosis of left side ingunial last week!
  7. The ring puffer hole! If it wasn’t you Spud I’d think you were taking the piss!! Thanks, relaxation occurring as I type 🤣
  8. Got a piece missing off my 576xp and I can’t work it out from the parts diagrams….it may be that it’s integral to the case and not replaceable. Anyone got a clue? Thanks in advance
  9. Summer 2021 doesn't seem that long ago to me. But when were the items put into service?
  10. Yeah felt like I did everything right but what to do! Thanks for those settings. Got a tach so maybe one day when I’m feeling brave! Honestly I just can’t be without this saw anymore so if I **************** the tuning it’s not worth it.
  11. Thanks. I tried cleaning with carb cleaner and it looked fantastic but then the saw ran like shit after that so I got a new one and it was fine. The carbs are so sensitive and I’m not confident to tune them. A 200 I can tune but the echo…nope
  12. I have one. But they just don’t seem to clean up that well. The fuel and oil and whatnot just builds up and you notice it in the performance when you get a new one. Don’t know really. It’s only this saw I have this with, all my others fine. So I guess I just put it down to the finnicketyness of the saw in general. They seem quite fussy.
  13. Thanks mate. That’s great info
  14. Just wondering on the difference on these two…. Air Filter - Echo CS-2511TES SKYLANDEQUIPMENT.COM Air filter for the Echo CS2511TES chainsaw. Complete air filter includes both halves as per picture. A Genuine Echo product Part number A226002140 This one I have and seem to have to replace fairly regularly. Notice Chainsawbars has this one at 3x the price….looks like fabric rather than plastic mesh A226001991 Air Filter Echo 2511TES - both halves of filter WWW.CHAINSAWBARS.CO.UK A226001991 Air Filter Echo 2511TES - both halves of filter. This gives you a full replacement air filter for this saw. Any wisdom on the differences?
  15. I've had the non-ce cougar blue for over 2 years now and it's definitely worn but will go some more. Can't fault it. Definitely thinking about the squir for next rope - it's priced very well. Interested that the velocity and voyager are good for srt as on the website they give an elongation of 3% which would be bouncy as f*ck....so must be a different figure to what others are quoting. Usually thinking about 2 or less good for srt.....
  16. Thanks. It does look similar concept. the Hyundai anvil differs in that it has a bit metal that stops it going closer to the blades. That one looks like the anvil could keep going into the blades. The gap between the anvil and the metal casing fills up with crud that gets hardened and is very hard to get out so you have a clean run at it. I do want to adjust the gap because the blades feel a little aggressive at the moment and restricts the diameter I can easily chip.
  17. Think I'll have to wait until I change the blades next to have a look. Can't picture it my head how I can put the credits cards there and just tap it down...doesn't make sense. Maybe there are different anvil constructions
  18. Can’t quite picture what you mean …. where do the credit cards go?
  19. Has to be said.....These are niche machines.... so for a small holding it's probably perfect. If I was using it every week for arb work I think it would do my head in, but for personal use for the price its great. I think if you don't overload it with big material it copes very well. The blades last 10-15 hrs of actual chipping I'd say, and then you are having to shove the material down which becomes infuriating compared to it just sucking in the material. Blades are easy enough to replace and I buy them from the uk suppler - Genpower. There may be cheaper places to buy - don't know. Haven't bothered to sharpen them yet, thought I would save up a few and get them done together a bit cheaper plus.....The anvil is a pig to adjust with any degree of refinement. The big the gap the smaller the diameter of wood it can cope with. So I don't really want to have to adjust for some newly sharpened blades compared to brand new blades. Haven't had much go wrong with mine and when it has Genpower have been pretty reliable for replacing parts.
  20. I buy from genpower for my Hyundai who is the uk dealer. Cheap but don’t last very long at all. Green mech one are more expensive but probably better quality and harder wearing. I doubt they fit other machines
  21. I have noticed the groundie not pushing it in all the way properly and it being loose when I’ve pulled it up but not otherwise
  22. Afaik definitely thinning up to 10cm dbh exempt as per FC guidelines. Cheers
