  3. Anno

    WOW

Yep up to the eyeballs in piss, blood and jizz, trees are low hanging fruit for the Forensic Lab!
  4. Anno

    WOW

    special branch involvement?
  5. 98% of us couldn't give a monkeys chuff but still it bangs on and on...
  6. a continous upward trend could suggest other factors, tree roots expand and show seasonality changes, so should show a pattern that can be mapped across climate and weather data for the periods specified.
  7. Wow there are one or two of them! A couple of them are mating, keep an eye out for some looking like they have swollen yellow abdomens, usually lifting the wing cases, they are the gravid females who will produce next years mob!
  8. I've been monitoring the spread of these for some time and it is eveident that they are not host specific as I have found them on many different species of trees up here in Cheshire. In basic terms they defoliate and move on and are in quite alarming numbers once they have colonised, however I think the damage is mostly cosmetic and shouldn't be too alarming.
  9. I work for a LA and I would think long and hard about it, forever in a position of job cuts and no pay increase for years, Central Government cutting funding, Mon to Friday solid 8.00 to 4.00 and as for pensions and pay I will need to work until I'm 67 and will still be short on the Mortgage payments.
  10. Saw them on that tour and most of them after including the last five, superb!
  11. Blimey Tupac;s looking well...
  12. Can't work out if they are snaffle holes for feeding or latrine pits - any evidence of crapping? Brocks can be very persistant if they find a decent food source and they will eat tubers and rhizomes, but equally dig up golf courses for leatherjacket / beetle larvae When worming they wait for a decent rainfall then hoover them up like sphagetti!
  13. last time I saw Tull Andersons voice was terrible, watching him strain to hit the notes was painful and I'd watched them numerous times before like you, think it was Roots to Branches Tour?
  14. I do some freelance Ecology work and have been surveying bats for over 30 years doing strictly emergence and track back surveys. You need to find somebody local to you and volunteer our services to learn the ropes its not as easy as pointing a detector at things as the usual software is poor at identifying. Lots of work for subbying during the season normally. The addition of decent climbing skills would be useful in some situations. Lots of Info here - National Bat Monitoring Programme - Our Work - Bat Conservation Trust WWW.BATS.ORG.UK Bat numbers in the UK have declined dramatically over the last century. You can help to monitor the UK's bats by taking part in our surveys and observin...
  15. Meatloaf classic case of peaking too early, agreed! One of the first bands I ever saw was Quo but anything after 'Rockin all over the World' forget it, I hate what they became. I think a lot of this is down to age and not understanding or wanting to know whats good or bad, the tribalism of my youth when you were a Punk, Trog or somesuch happily died out and kids today like what they want rather than following a trend, probably healthier long term?
  16. Moby Grape?!!!
  17. I hate all that '90's utter crap, Ocean Colour Scene and Shit7 - utter twonk. I like the Grateful Dead, hence my avatar and I am a massive Zeppelim, Purple and Sabbs fan. Someone was slagging off the mighty Zepp earlier but for me they opened up a lot of new music with the blues influences and Folk on Zepp 3, they acted as acatalyst for me explorer newer and more obscure music and good on 'em!
  18. If they are at the basal region try Lunar Hornet Clearwing - its a moth.
  19. Sounds like most checks have taken place and Planning won't give a monkeys if they are on private land and owned by the person requesting the work. Double check for felling license requirements and crack on.
  20. The Town and Country Planning (Tree Preservation)(England) Regulations 2012 WWW.LEGISLATION.GOV.UK These Regulations, which apply in relation to England only, substantially revoke and replace the Town and Country Planning (Trees) Regulations 1999, to the extent to which they apply to...

    What's this?

looks like Tree Bumblebee, the usual insect take over species now in the UK,new arrivals to the UK, thought to have begun colonising our shores around 2001, so the 'ban the boats' mob on here might have something to say...
  22. Is the update available on the IPhone?
  23. stupid decision species wise, will be full of leaf blotch in a few growth seasons and looking crap, on the bright side look forward to being plagued by kids for conkers if it gets established...
  24. I'd only try it if you have a spare £20,000 around.
  25. I don’t often post on here but sometimes you come across something in your travels that kind of stops you in your tracks. A few years back on my patch we gave permission for a TPO’d Beech to be felled owing to instability and an outbreak of Meripilus, and good on them they replanted near to the stump. Went to look at a neighbour’s tree this week and was intrigued to say the least to find this! Maybe the Sycamore Gap could benefit from something similar...
