  1. I'm really into the Environment, but having a power generation system based solely on solar/ wind is unlikely to work as wind and sunshine are not dependable... We need traditional electrical generation for cold January evenings when there is no sun and no wind.
  2. Gas production from the North Sea is declining. Unfortunately, many regions of the world that produce gas aren't particularly friendly or politically stable. For instance Russia continually uses the threat of cutting off gas to Europe as a political weapon. Qatar and Europe aren't natural allies either... I share many concerns of the people here regarding pollution etc, however I think fracking in the UK is inevitable.
  3. tbh, I think that's relatively "good value". Anyway, i'll be heading to your house if there is a zombie invasion. As a piece of trivia, the Accuracy International rifle holds the record for the longest sniper kill at 2475m.
  4. Lol, I bet it cost more than my Fiesta anyway Is target shooting a good enough reason to get a rifle like that? How many times out of ten can you hit a target at 1200 yards? I'm thinking of getting my FAC, I do like the Remington 700, 20 inch Varmint barrel I'd probable go for a Leopold mark 4 sight with mil dots.
  5. If I was going to design/build a house I'd be using a heat pump during Autumn/ Spring and a stove during the winter months.
  6. Nice gun Mark, I never knew you could get these on the civilian market. If it's not too nosy how much did you pay for it? Is that a muzzle break? What do you shoot with it and at what type of range?
  7. I usually find material suppliers are keen to supply detail drawings to show how their product should be used. I'd be emailing the suppliers for the "standard details", it's then just a copy/paste exercise. Have you looked at the "Spons" book for construction costs? It's the bible for quantity surveyors. It costs about £150 but your college should have one. I'd be specifying an insulated tin roof. It's two layers of aluminium with insulation in between, it should be cheaper and more environmentally friendly than most other roofs. You shouldn't hear the rain on it either. If you want to complement your other environmental ideas consider a reed bed to polish the water coming from your septic tank. How about a heat pump?
  8. I believe the Crusades were a response to the Muslim world attacking Europe and taking slaves... "The term slave has its origins in the word slav. The slavs, who inhabited a large part of Eastern Europe, were taken as slaves by the Muslims of Spain during the ninth century AD." The Story of Africa| BBC World Service
  9. How many people have died in religious wars since WW2? It must be more than 6 million?
  10. I'm digging a hole because I pointed out that living condition in most parts of Africa are fairly grim? Well thanks for your well argued post Richard.
  11. I think the lesson to be learned from the past is that appeasement does not work.... Extremist Muslims make the Nazis look like the boy scouts.
  12. Blame the parents then.... They could have applied for asylum in any of the half dozen safe countries they passed through to get to France. Anyway, what are living conditions like for most children in Africa etc? Should we invite them all into Europe?
  13. There does seem to be a recurring theme of Muslims going berserk and killing lots of people. Every time their family never had an inkling before hand. If one in a thousand chainsaws suddenly blew up and killed everyone about them would we still have chainsaws in the UK? I think banning Muslims from the US is too far, but let's not pretend that there is not a major problem....
  14. I know the French eat some strange food. But there is no civil war in Calais..... lol, I think the people on this thread should find out the difference between "refugee" and "economic migrant". Anyway, let's all hope it's a nice cold winter with lots of snow
  15. Yeah, nice retort. Well you toddle off to Syria to live with them then. Vive Le Pen! Live Le National Front! Vive Le France!
  16. FFS, people go to France for their holidays. France is one of the most developed countries on the planet, if people are in a "desperate situation" it's their own fault. If all the migrants got into the UK do you think they would make the UK a nicer place to live? Or do you think they would turn the UK into the same s£$%hole that they came from?
  17. All the migrants have to do is claim asylum in France and they would be sorted. Sorry, I've seen too much YouTube footage of the migrants at Calais attacking lorries etc to have much sympathy for them. I hope it is a long cold winter.
  18. I think the main problem with democracy is that politicians have not been looking after the interests of the electorate. It's been obvious for a while that mass migration from the third world has not been beneficial for Britons...
  19. Which other system would you prefer? Perhaps we should base our society on a book written 1300 years ago by a warlord living in the desert?
  20. The sooner we all accept that certain cultures hate secular democracy the better....
  21. thanks. If you ever want a signed photograph just say.
  22. Lol, Israel is the best country in that region.... If the Israelis never took Palestine it would be another failed state like Syria or Yemen... Or maybe a bit like Saudi or Turkey who support ISIS. *sigh* you don't think terrorism is a major problem. You don't think the multitude of terrorist attacks is a concern? I don't think we started the conflict with Islam. If you look at your history books you will see Islam has been picking fights with other cultures since it was started.
  23. I think it's about time we left the Middle East alone. I'm fed up with the "West" getting blamed for interfering (or not interfering) with the Middle East. We should provide a country for the Kurds/ Christians in the Middle East and leave the Sunni and Shia to kill each other. It's also about time we had a serious discussion about the amount of "Brits" from migrant backgrounds that want to kill us. If they hate us so much we should be deporting them to Somalia or ISIS controlled Syria.
  24. Thanks for your comments everyone Duncan, when you put the laser in do you find the laser is consistently an inch off in the same direction? If it is surely it would make a good check that your scope is zeroed in?
  25. Thanks Lazurus, it's for a 223 Remington. The last time we zeroed the gun together it was windy and the shots were going everywhere.... I cant help thinking a few minutes with a laser would be easier (and cheaper!!) Is there a manufacturer you recommend?
