I think you misunderstand the discussion. I think most people here want extremists to give up their liberty so everyone else is safer.

What I always find amazing is that after every terrorist attack the media interview people that say "turn the other cheek" and "love is stronger than hate". For instance after the Westminster Bridge attack that American family were all over the media saying don't hate muslims in general. If I had a family member caught up in a terrorist attack I'd be livid, I'd want the terrorists and terrorist sympathisers to be killed. I'd imagine many people in the UK would have similar thoughts. Yet somehow that viewpoint is never expressed in the mainstream media... It's hard not to feel that the media have been manipulating us.....

The reason the Manchester Bomber wasn't charged because he hadn't done enough to have been arrested... To send people like him to prison will require an overhaul of the justice system concerning terrorism... It's something I've been saying over my last ten posts and you still don't seem to understand.

In WW2 we wouldn't have tolerated Nazis marching about London with swastika flags. We shouldn't tolerate this. Build a Guantanamo Bay and send them there.

If sending the lot of them to prison saves one life it's worth it. The "human rights" of people that hate us and want to kill us should be of no concern.

The authorities didn't know he was "preparing an act of terrorism" though... or why did they not arrest him... Sooner or later the general public will demand that potential terrorists are just locked up. The public will put the rights of children not to get killed ahead of the rights of terrorist sympathisers.

You're right, it's not an ideal situation. However what option do we have? Just hold hands and watch politicians make speeches about "unity" as the remains of twenty kids are scraped from the walls? The Israeli justice system requires no trial by jury. They arrest potential terrorists and put them in jail. No trial required.

The problem is there are circa 3,000 extremists in the UK. However, you don't know which one will go on a killing spree. Our justice system is based on sending people to court for what they have done and not what they might do. This Salman guy probably watched a lot of extremist stuff online and emailed a lot of other extremists. He probably also went on a lot of extremist marches. I bet he also googled "how to make a bomb". It's all stuff that indicates he's an extremist however it's not stuff that would convince a jury. I think we will have to lower the burden of proof to convict extremists. I also think we will have to stop "trial by jury"... It's a moral question, do you lock up 3,000 extremists because you know some of them are going to commit terrorist offences?

20,000 extra police will make very little difference as there are so many soft targets in Britain. If a terrorist has a knife he could kill a class of kids before the police show up. If a terrorist has a bomb all he has to do is detonate it in any high street in the UK. Random deterrent policing is unlikely to have much impact on terrorism. Internment camps? Are you thinking of concentration camps? They are two different things. In WW2 we locked up Germans that were in the UK in internment camps. I think the time has come to send the 3,000 suspected terrorists in the UK to internment camps...

It takes about 30 intelligence officers to monitor a suspect 24/7. That means 20,000 police could monitor about 650 suspects. There are about 3,000 high risk suspects on our streets. PS well done, it seems you've had your "light bulb" moment.

I think you don't know what you are talking about. More police on the beat is unlikely to have stopped Manchester. To blame Manchester on austerity is quite frankly insulting. Manchester can be blamed on two main things: 1. A religion that encourages members to kill non members. 2. People that have spent decades defending that religion.

So to sum up the last two days: Islamist terrorist attacks concert that a lot of children are attending. 22 dead. There has been no widespread condemnation of this terrorist attack by "mainstream Muslims". If "mainstream Muslims" were as peace loving as we were told they'd have held a march to condemn the terrorist. PS since the terrorist managed to walk into the foyer with the bomb it's likely to have been a military grade explosive. It's likely IS have a skilled bomb maker with military explosives in the UK.

Unfortunately Britain has been bending over backwards to provide asylum to the nutters. People like Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi were relatively "good guys" that kept the Islamic extremists under control. The extremists were put in prison and given a hard time, they eventually are released and they head to Britain to claim asylum.... I'd imagine the father of the Manchester bomber was a hardcore Islamist that was persecuted by Gaddafi... Islamic State are getting beaten in Syria. That mean many IS fighters are escaping to Turkey and then getting boats to Europe to claim asylum....

The problem is that we don't really know what someone is like when they claim asylum. We also don't know what the children of asylum seekers will be like. The guy that committed the Manchester bombing was the child of asylum seekers. If accepting asylum seekers (and Islam) into the West means more terrorism I think politicians should be honest with us... Let's look at the Manchester bombing: 22 dead 70 injured. The injuries will range from minor to life changing like blindness. Thousands of kids traumatised. How does a ten year girl get over seeing people ripped to shreds? In the coming years many of the kids at the bombing will have problems like alcoholism/ drug taking etc because of what they witnessed. For me the price of letting Islam into the West is just too high.
