  1. how much does a hi vis vest cost? A fiver or something?
  2. Could you pick the straight stuff out? It's easy enough to split straight timber but it's ten times harder to split the twisted stuff up. Could you process the stuff up at your friends yard? I can't help thinking processing straight into bags would save one lot of double handling.
  3. You live up to your user name... You really are "mad as ever". Nick Clegg is the missing end of a monumental bell.

    Cabin Fever

Anyone else getting cabin fever? I don't want to go shooting as my Fiesta doesn't cope with the snow in the country lanes where I shoot I can't do any work in my parents' garden as it's covered in snow There's only so much internet prawn you can look at I might polish my boots tonight
  5. Tbh, I think if people had winter tyres it would mean they are more likely to go out in snowy conditions. Let's face it. The safest thing to do when it's snowy is to stay in the house and get the fire roaring. Anything that gives people the idea that it's safe to drive to Asda is probably a bad idea.... Dont get me wrong. If you regularly need to drive in snow you should get winter tyres (and 4wd). However for most of us it's just not worth it.
  6. seemingly winter tyres need 4mm of tread. So they don't last long...
  7. What is the price difference for winter tyres?
  8. Who really knows? It just seems disgusting that people buy a consumer good then the manufacturer reduces the speed of the device...
  9. Apple has apologised for slowing down the speed of old I phones because they wanted to save the batteries.... It seems more plausible that they slowed down old phones so that people would buy new ones. It looks like I won't be buying any more Apple products.
  10. The problem with the UK is that our winters are generally mild. Winter in the highlands of Scotland are a lot worse than on the South Coast. It would be hard for the Government to push through a "though shall use winter tyres in winter" law. I can't see the Government pushing this legislation through.
  11. The royal family costs 62 pence per person, you really think 62 pence is worth discussing? We should buy the Queen a new yacht so that we can sail it abroad and do some trade deals.... We should have a lottery to pay for the upkeep of the workshy. That way people like you can put their money where their mouths are..... I bet the average Tory voter pays more tax than the average Labour voter.... Maybe a little bit of gratitude towards Tory voters is called for? Tory bashing from left wingers like you is getting boring.
  12. Yeah, if only Labour were in power they'd have planted some "magic money trees" to provide all the money that public services required I'd rather we bought the Queen a new boat than give yet more money to the feckless and workshy. There's people that have never held down a job in their life yet they still manage to afford Sky telly and go abroad on holiday.
  13. I think the last few pages are basically saying fat birds can't help being fat as they can't walk past a Greggs or Burger King without going in.
  14. Yeah, seemingly they worked until 9:30pm... One of them had a piss against the hedge... I'd guess they were gypsies or £4 an hour EU'ers.
  15. Lol, I was up at my parents. Seemingly one of the neighbours had a new monoblock driveway put in a few weeks back when it was cold. The "tradesmen" had excavated the driveway and got a tipper load of sub base for the foundation. The tipper went up but the sub base was frozen solid to the side of the tipper and stayed put... They then poured petrol over the sub base in the tipper to thaw it out... When it did come out they compacted it... Ffs, compacting frozen sub base is bound to give a nice solid foundation for monoblocks...
  16. That's the shortest day today from now on the days get longer. I celebrated it by dancing naked round a fire with my hippy mates. I jumped over the fire and I'm writing this from hospital with singed gonads
  17. Yeah, it's out of order of me to start these threads that people want to post on.....
  18. Sorry, but I've never really went in for these academic arguments... Does knowledge of determinism and fatalism help when it comes to paying your mortgage? Dont get me wrong. I think things like testerone levels and upbringing influence decision making, however this discussion is really just mumbo jumbo Imho.
  19. Ohhh, there's no free will but we still have to take responsibility for our actions.... That doesn't make a lot of sense to me...
  20. Can't help it. We seem to have given up on the idea of free will on this thread.
  21. I'm chuffed as well. It turns out it's not my fault I'm so racist
  22. When it's being used to criticise the military?
  23. Ohh sorry, I must apologise for starting a thread that people have found interesting enough to respond to. I bet you're a real laugh down the pub.
  24. Yeah fair one. Morbidly overweight people are likely to die decades earlier and spend time in a wheelchair due to their joints being destroyed. However the real problem is people like me pointing these things out because I might hurt their feelings Anyway, according to the village idiot I can't help writing these posts. So it's bang out of order for you to criticise me for something I can't control.
