  1. I had a roof mount in a Valmet, it had wheel weights, tyres full of water front weights and was top heavy when in the woods, the crane was a 560 tl but my mate has a 560 tl on a timber trailer and it will lift much heavier stuff. Hodge
  2. Thanks, just didn't want to come across wrong. All good humor on here:) Hodge
  3. You can get finance for machines without going to a dealer, look in the back of the forestry journal, eagle asset finance or Arb lease can help. Hodge
  4. It was meant as a joke please don't take it to heart mountain man, I m sticking up for landys. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  5. I have a Landrover Td5, its a great work horse, pulls my tracked chipper everyday, pull a full ifor 10x5 regularly, goes over fields, through woods and rough terrain and does it very,Very well. However there is a price to pay for this, mine has done 80k now, this year its cost 2k in repairs. I take it to a LR dealer so I do pay a bit more but I'm back on the road in a day, while it's there I get a defender or a disco commercial so I can still tow. I use Land Rover parts where I can again not cheap but designed for the job. Most of my repairs are thing that wear with heavy use such as suspension bushes, steering bushes and drive train oil seals. I thought about getting rid of my Landy recently and after looking at my options she is still the best for me. So you people can dislike Landys till the cows come home but in my eyes there the dogs doodahhs!! Hodge
  6. Hour at most. 2 men a day , that's just crazy. Hodge
  7. When I did some trees next to a railway line I notified Network rail who sent a guy to look at the job with me, luckily I knew the guy and we got it sorted free of charge, they provided 3 lads to keep an eye on things and clear the track just in case, the line only has a train every half hour and is not electric. I sent copy's of our insurance and certs etc. Hodge
  8. It amazes me that so called tree surgeons have no idea what they are doing, some seem to think that CS 30/31 covers them for anything. Hodge
  9. Who needs the entire stock of Honey Brothers hanging of their harness eh! Keepin it real. Hodge
  10. Hey Paul please can you get some more pics of the Lands chip body please. Ta:) Hodge
  11. I found mine the opposite, far too baggy for my liking, I tried the xl and the seemed ok at home, but after a few hours wearing the were far too baggy, I got a pair of large and the were way to tight, I couldn't even fasten them. Hodge

  17. From mid may until end of August I go a bit quiet, then it goes mad and it has been like this for 6 years with me. Having said that I have quite a few jobs lined up at the moment. Hodge
  18. Fair play Steve, I was just interested to know what it was. Hodge
  19. What is Glastir? They have no idea if they think £97 would pay for a tree surgeon for a day. Hodge

  21. So I could take 5 bulk bags of hedge cuttings and burn them in my land without any problems? I have a waste carrying licence so moving the said waste should not be an issue. Hodge
  22. I have heard of a case where a farmer sold a barn in his yard, the people who bought it converted it into a dwelling and then didn't like the farm being there so they got it shutdown, this can from a planning consultant I am dealing with so not BS. Hodge
  23. Ha,Ha ok for big jobs but that lot turning up at Mrs Miggins would probs finish her off lol. Great kit if you can make it earn its keep. The only perfect Arb truck is what suits your needs and business model. Hodge
  24. I have seen quite a few hard reductions done on Acers and they always look bad, lots of dead stubs, peeling bark and lots of eppicormic growth as a result. Hodge
