  1. Thats really cool mate. i want one.
  2. There are some tossers around, they think coz we cut wood and sell it that they are above us in there boring 9-5 jobs, people bloody people.
  3. people dont think like that, i get them ringing up asking for logs NOW because we are down to the last log and NEED THEM NOW. its a joke, look at the french, i know we slag em off but they know about firewood, most houses have a log store fully stocked all the time.
  4. You are right mate, up here everyone is getting wood burners fitted, my mate fits em and he cant get the burners fast enough, im gonna get him to recomend me and in return i will sort him some wood out for his fire. its the old way of doing things before money was invented, ha,ha.
  5. i once drove ten miles, disscused the job, rang UU up and got info for shutting power of ,dates etc, had a good chat with the guy and thought i had it in the bag, then he rang me and told me thanks for my help and he would consider me for work in the future but his next door neighbour had seen me and told them her grandson was a tree surgeon, he did it on his day off, didnt even turn the power off, crazy bugger. i told him to stick his future work.
  6. I often wonder am i making any money of firewood. I just did a job big ash tree, really long trunk with a weird crown stuck on the top. i had quoted to remove the tree and then gave them a token of 50 quid for the wood. it too 2 hours to get the tree dismantled and down and the rest of the time discing up the butt and moving it to my yard. from that i have allready sold 2 loads at 100 quid and i reckon that there is at least 4 more left in it. it took me and jim an hour to fill the back of the landy using the splitter. if only all jobs were this rewarding.
  7. Heres mine in action £85 of ray mears website woodlore

    ash

Just a few pics of some ash i got off a job. The trunk made 30 10" thick rounds which when split filled my land 3 times so quite a nice bit of cash to come back.
  13. i got it of the ray mears website, woodlore i think it was called, it wernt cheap but it is top drawer.
  14. I felled a dead elm last week, it had no bark on it so must have been quite old, i brought it home not to the yard as i couldnt wait to burn it. i have just bought a gransfors splitting maul and used it on the elm, it was like a hot knife threw butter, a couple of hits on the edge soon had it split. it burns so well on my burner. if only i could get 200 tonne of the stuff,ha,ha.

  20. I have a job to do on a b road, a couple of sycamores need a crown reduction, they are not very big a will take a morning at most, they are on an embankment on a pavement. do i need traffic lights or will signs be enough?
  21. I had a timberwolf 150 dhb for four years and i have just got a tracked version of the same machine, i think they are the best, in terms of build quality and ease of maintainence and performance i would give em 10/10.
