  1. If all else fails and you rethink the roids, know that the injection is straight into the damaged tendon. The tiny dose is only good for immediately assisting that area to heal. a jump start if you like, but as anyone who does weights knows, it is extremely effective for kicking the repair of muscle and tendon into action and making that area repair in the most efficient way.
  2. Got a mate at Avon, technical dept manager, looking into the tyre for you... Was as confused as the rest of us when I described it to him, so sent the pic and will see what he comes up with.
  3. Had this a few years ago... completely ruined my casting action whilst fishing. Good news is, one injection of steroids from the Doc sorted it within a day, and no issues in the four years since. I'd seriously consider telling your Doc to get the needle out Lancstree, especially as it affects your work.
  4. Learn Polish... You'll get plenty of work then. lol
  5.

  6. Need someone with a chipper in west London, Twickenham area? need a price, probably only an hours or so work, anyone local?
  7. having issues with friction knots. My prusik has the middle loop tightening too much and grabbing the top turn, making it almost impossible to lower on it. So tried another knot, the VT, and having exactly the same issue... Was thinking a thicker, stiffer rope for the job, so tied up with a thicker rope, but to no avail... Any ideas?
  8. Being a fisherman, I know shed loads of knots, but mostly they are great for mono line to hooks etc... There are obviously tons of knots out there, but with rope, grip, slip, and workability work completely different than my knot experience with mono. I have seen knots used for tying small loops in prusiks, lanyards etc, but cant work out which is best, nor whick I'm even looking at. So, what are good knots for creating small loops at the end of the ropes for karibina's etc??? or should I just stick to pre spliced loops?
  9. Cheers for your help guys... one set of Klein poles heading my way.
  10. Not specifically this industry, as this exact system is in operation across the board. Whenever we have a subbie working within or for our company, we have to check all documentation regards licences, equipment inspection paperwork, and if we are using a company rather than freelancers, we need insurance docs as well. Add to this that anyone doing the work has to do their own written risk assessment, emergency procedure etcetera, etcetera, etcetera... we get lots of whinging from subbies, as they turn up to check a plug, and do half an hours worth of paperwork before they can start.
  11. What are the basic methods of adding friction to lower limbs down from up high? Obviously, there are ready made devices out there, but there must have been methods around that were used before them? There was of course the rope over a crouch technique, but that wears both the rope, and the tree too much for my liking. So what other methods are there?
  12. So, what kit have you got that you have modified, show us your pics, but also, tell us why you wanted to mod' it and how well the mod' works...
  13. Nice modding... Think "adjusted" kit needs a thread of its own???
  14. Thanks guys. Great help and informative. Martin
  15. Can spare gaffs be bought that can replace pole ones and aid gnarly trunk climbing at a later date?
  16. ... Klein Pole climbing spikes, and tree climbing spikes??? Saw on another thread, someone mention NOT to get pole if using on trees??? Just want confirmation before making an expensive mistake... Thanks in advance, Martin And sorry, can admin move to climbers talk please???
  17. Must admit, when I was on the council I got "stuck" in Holland one weekend, and as there were a few of us, the calls to work were all getting a bit out of hand... By the time I rang my boss, all the good excuses had gone, so I just told him I'd broke both my legs, but I'd be in for Thursday... three days to recover from broken legs, luckily, me and the boss got on well and he knew that I was fishing, he didn't know where, but he knew the basics... He didn't even bat an eyelid when I strolled in on Thursday as promised.
  18. Anyone know of an Arborists/tree surgeon shop near west London? Preferably outer London area? If not, where should I aim for a good shop?
  19. As a Transport and Warehouse manager for the last ten years, and before that a qualified (Managers CPC holder) transport only manager, let me assist you all in how the law is set up. A flash of the lights, is technically a warning. It should only be used as a warning, and if you are flashed you should treat it as a warning. If you pull out into the flow of traffic because someone flashed you, and there is a collision, YOU are at fault in the eyes of the law. Rear end collisions are always the fault of the following car. Regardless of anything else... As the law see's it, if you crash into the rear of another car, you are by default, A, too close, and B, going too fast for the space available. Enough space should always be left to come to a halt safely before contacting another vehicle, and that goes for emergency stops as well as instant (crash) stops. Hope that helps.
  20. I won't do that BB, that'll be like inviting the riff raff around for tea and scones...
  21. 99.9% will be dropped on a line. Not playing about with handling too much.
  22. Twickenham area... will post up when I start bringing it down and have a reasonable pile for collection if anyone wants it... It will definitely be a slow take down, 1, because I have very little time to really dive into it, and b, as its a big fella, with plenty of opportunity for unplanned drops. As I'm just coming back into it, I will be using it to reaquaint myself with ballet dancing around tree limbs at height and getting rigging working properly. Hopefully, it'll give me enough strange drops to get me thinking about how I used to do it...
  23. Will be looking at removing a large Eucalyptus tree from my garden soon, and wondered if there is anything specific I should know about them that will make the job harder, more dangerous, or if they have any strange characteristics, like snapping early into a cut etc... Also, have heard they make great firewood, but know nobody with a real fire, so whats the best way to get rid of the wood/logs??? Cheers in advance.
  24. Apparently Mr Munch, looking around a stump for new growth twice a year is too much like hard work, add the fact that they would have to carry around a pair of secateurs, and it probably becomes a two man job.
