  1. Quite a lot of jerky sold now so would think there is a good market for all meats
  2. Whilest I don't supply any specific variety of wood to anyone,I did give a couple of wild geese to a Polish fella who smoked it over pear wood and gave some back to me. Wonderful taste.
  3. I have guns, and can shoot a little but was splitting and cutting logs as I was getting low... 303 crows and Black Shucks pups
  4. Probably only two or three animals .They can really get stuck in ,especially if there is a moon on.
  5. Most ,if not all the trees would survive. The issue is scarring, garden centres, nurseries will not buy scarred trees.
  6. With these modern powerful 4x4s, third gear, diffs on and drop the clutch with big revs and keep the revs right up spinning the wheels as much as possible, cleaning the treads . You will be surprised just what you can get away with with modern kit.
  7. Best guard aginst rabbit is to build live catch traps into the netting as the only way in. You can end up getting most of them that way.Pity we don't do it too..
  8. Recipe is as follows.. 32 grains powder 42 grams lead berries plastic wad Tight chokes careful aim..Boom!!! Bit late now though
  9. Whilest my Boss was away over Christmas,I said I would keep an eye on these family apples I grafted for him in the spring. Two grafts to three grafts on each mother plant and sell for eight quid each. Took me two days to do the four hundred or so plants and the bunnies found them...
  10. I use a polytunnel for drying firewood. You can create great airflow, use a heater in the winter and heat is free in the summer!
  11. Fella told me,Ukraine is a good place to buy from, price wise.
  12. It is a big tree with leaves around the bottom of it : biggrin : I am going to make a professional opinion on the leaves and twigs scattered about the place. (You might call it a guess) Twigs. Poplar and ash. Leaves. Sweet chestnut, sycamore and some other stuff. Verdict... Once we know for certain,I will tell you
  13. I had about 18 tonne of sweet chestnut in the summer .I like it,have had no complaints, even the few with open fires who have used it. I would think it would go well with the spruce ?
  14. Running out of seasoned logs ,I took on some "dry" birch, sweet chestnut, and spruce. The birch is dry enough, but the spruce ,when struck with a pick, spurted sap. Thinking this would never dry in time for this season,I only split three cubes or so and put in my polytunnel. It has been there for about five days ,so I tried some tonight on my stove, thinking it would probably kill the fire.It went red hot and burned really well. I just went out there and got some more and whilest out, checked it for moisture..27 to 35 ,with one still at 45. At this rate,I shall be able to sell by the end of Feb if I need to.. Happy with that.
  15. "The Kola Run" is an old book all about these convoys and the terrible time these very brave people went through.
  16. £40 for a runner with no chain brake. Are these saws horrid ?
  17. I am stihl interested,Spud. If you would be kind enough to enlighten me a little more..
  18. This is not something I would be able to do myself ,I would have to ask one of the clever chaps on here to do it for me! At least it can be done.. Thank you for the info.
  19. What a little bitch! You got me hopeful now. Cheers.
  20. Just had a look on the net. Other carbs will fit, as will pistons. Might still be possible.
  21. Fair days pay plus call out fee I reckon. As already mentioned ,£300 or so. You don't get work in hard times if you are expensive.
  22. How about it? Silly idea or fun and useable? I have a good runner with an oil leak, runs a little fast on tickover. How about a strip and rebuild to keep it working with a power boost. Your thoughts, derogatory or otherwise ,welcome. Saw cost me nothing.
  23. Nothing to worry about then. I must say with a 18" bar it fairly rips through anything and I enjoy using it. Yanks seem to like them too. Jon, I know you recently bought a 460,is the extra power that noticeable ?
  24. I own a 441 Mtronic and noticed a fair few negative comments . Could someone enlighten me as to what woes I can expect from it and how it compares to the 460?
