  1. I'd hate to load anything with my 2m wide bucket, even heaped up it's not much more than 0.7 M3. The tractor could handle larger, but to be honest I would prefer to take longer than snap an axle. Wasn't sure if the firm's had a time penalty deal like most concrete companies.
  2. How big a bucket would you need to load a lorry tho?. Guessing they would want it loaded in 15-20 minutes.
  3. I'm not sure if it's going to be dog rough or definitely stolen at that price. Bite the bullet and get a 261, for firewood processing it's pretty hard to beat.
  4. 4m is pretty much tractor loader territory. Telehandlers are a bit of a one trick pony for farm work tho, as they don't have a PTO or 3 point so unless it's pallet forks and loading it won't get used.
  5. Mike has pretty much described what you would want as a co-owner or someone to take over when you're wanting to retire. But that's the reality of most industries going forward, you can't just keep workers in a state of illiteracy like the Victorians. It's inevitable employees with a bit of skill and nous will leave to setup on their own, it's just a case of getting the right salary balance. Pay enough for them to stay or risk them competing for the work you could have done together.
  6. Just playing devil's advocate, as providing you've set the blades correctly there aren't many variables. Could it be this beast ?. Wadkin FM Planer Thicknesser WWW.WADKIN.COM
  7. Daft question but as it's 3 phase, the motor isn't accidentally running backwards?.
  8. Where is the clutch you mentioned, it's not in the manual linked above?. As that just mentions belt tightness and blade alignment.
  9. Granted it's not fleet management, why not fit something like one of those hidden camera things. Setup to take a picture of the cab every 5 minutes, or run at one frame per second ?.
  10. Have you watched any of this guy ?. He came to the conclusion most people don't really understand what, why or how things are going wrong.
  11. Well you seem to believe you know better, yet don't want to start again and solve the actual problem. A smaller stove will be fine once it's not throwing 99% of your heat up the chimney. Just remember that old open fire before the Jotul was 30% efficient, bigger is not always better. If you want to test my theory, board off the fireplace and run a couple of 3kw electric heaters and see how toasty it gets one evening.
  12. It's not an alcove, just an old style open fireplace with a huge stove shoehorned inplace. Get the behemoth removed, swept and inspected with a camera before getting a smaller stove fitted. Providing your sweep thinks the chimney is in ok condition, get a reputable stove installer to drop in a full new liner and register plate and fit a small 4/5kw stove.
  13. Most of Europe has three phase as standard into most homes. It's even more funnier trying to explain 110v tools to anyone from Europe, it's just not a thing over there. That's the main reason why they aren't particularly common in 240v, get a generator and the world is your oyster machine wise.
  14. Tractor loader with a modified muck grab is probably the easiest option without spending serious amounts of cash and easy to shift if it doesn't suit. All depends on your budget and how fancy you want it too look.
  15. Worse he can do is ask if they do a conversion kit. Just make sure a decent spark uprates the breakers to type D and fits a 32A blue socket as the 16A will get toasty. Extension cords should be 4mm.
  16. The USA use a split phase system, 240 distribution and a pole transformer to two 120 circuits. 5hp is 3.7kw, so must be 240v. 3700w is 30A on 120v, 3700w on 240 is 15.5A Just checked it's 240v single phase, (northernwoodsmen). Depending on energy price at 38p, that's around £1.41 an hour
  17. I did have a quick look over the manual, it does have a few electric things including safety stuff etc. Once you've sorted the knackered battery and providing it's putting enough charge back during normal use I would personally fit one of those red key battery isolators. You can't loose a charge if it's isolated.
  18. Is it running any electrical solenoids etc, not saying the battery isn't a Friday special but solenoids use a surprisingly large amount of current or maybe current leakage. Out of interest what's it on machine wise.
  19. Those on the posch are only available on the PTO model, which aren't fully electric, they're hydraulic with an electric controller.
  20. It's rated at 6kw, not the greatest efficiency. But I would have thought the retro fitted installation was the problem, minimal air flow will not naturally circulate to the room. To confirm my assumption, get a desktop fan and point it either under the stove or down the sides.
  21. Is that a Kubota OC-95, as the charging circuit only puts out 12v 48w, so 4A. I'm guessing it's just not enough to charge the battery after it's started, are there any electronics aswell?.
  22. If you're not moving around why not buy a cheap 3 phase generator, you can keep it away from the action and have modern comforts like heat, light etc. 6-15kva should do, 2-3 liters of red per hour at 82p and no petrol should pay for itself pretty quickly.
  23. Does it have a particularly weird funky wet dog smell, if you've cut it and it practically flows with water it's poplar or willow.
  24. Direct connection to the 12v battery, look at the leads on the winch, that's what's size is needed all the way or preferably larger. Booster packs are generally lithium and designed to give a huge punch and not slowly discharge. Trailer connections are very low power and will just burn out all the electrics, wires and probably the tractor. Rated wattage ÷ 12v = amps
  25. Don't think anyone has an adversion to bats, it's more the council's heaping on yet more surveys and cost before they'll even look at an application. Last bat survey cost around 1300 plus the 600 for the basic survey. Always written in such vague noncommittal terms even when they aren't living in the building. I would agree with having bat roosts built into one end gables and maybe bird nest boxes built into the brickwork at a so many per m providing it's say 3m above ground.
