Bear carved at Northumberland County Show

Never got chance to look round so cannot say , its the first time I, v been and never seen much as I could not get away .there were tree climbers from kirkley hall college in the trees next to me , and realwoodstudios on other side that were milling wood and showing furniture. Ray -
Just thought I would put a pic of one of the carvings I carved at the Northumberland County Show. It turned out a nice day after a few wet days, muddy but nice. This is the bear being carved on the photo.

It took about 3 hours , bit long realy but I was making it up as I went along , had nothing to copy and its the first flying bird I have done , cheers mate:thumbup1:

Cheers good pig, I am trying to carve as much as I can at the minute to get carvings ready for the northumberland county show bank holiday monday which I am carving at .l have two decking jobs I am doing at the moment so I need longer days, but I just keep pushing on cheers , Ray

New MS150 Stihl and carving bar

I was in two minds when I got mine, the saw ran on a bit when released the trigger and did not respond for a second when pulled the trigger, I also thought it vibrated abit much but now seems fine .The chain seems to get plenty of oil , it uses a full tank of oil , petrol each every time.as for the bar I only use it for small detail , I dont put a lot of pressure on it , but it gets where other beers can not reach.I give it 10 out of 10 up to now.speeking of beer see u. -
Hi , most people use decking oil, you can get different shades but all soak in and show the grain , I mostly use natural which has a slight colour.A lot of other oils can turn a carving a dirty colour after time, if you do try decking oil I would coat it every day for three or for days to seal it well before the oil dries, this also slows drying process down.hope it helps.
