  1. Our site is a bit sprawling, so if I'm down the bottom of the yard I can't see people driving in and was wondering if anyone knows of any technology I could use to alert me to people driving or walking into the yard. At the moment we use a wireless front door bell, but that only works if someone presses the bell!
  2. Absolutely spot on. There is more to to life than work, I applaud you for doing the right thing, it's time well spent and you done get a second chance to be a great dad, as you clearly are. Well done.
  3. You could also tow a log trailer with it http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fe/Rot-E-Taek_hauling_logs.jpg
  4. With the site being an ex-chemical site have you read the historical review and site contaminated land assessment? What do the site investigation documents say, is there any reference to suitable plant/tree species for the site? Do the documents help in the selection of suitable tree species? Is the soil pH high or low? Are the whips you proposing suitable for the ground conditions. Will the whips help mobilise contaminants or take them up into their system? Is this desirable or not? Some site have been planted to encourage the take up of contaminants into the selected species, these are subsequently harvested and disposed of in a suitable fashion, thus helping reduce the contamination load of the site over time. Will the weed control chemicals react with the site contaminants, will this result in a negative environmental impact to the ground, groundwater or local water course? Has the site been capped using an engineered cap, will planting trees interfere with the cap, maybe low growing species could be considered?
  5. Interested in selling items at auction? Liquidate your assets - Sell surplus stock - New route to market William George can offer you a fantastic opportunity to list one or many of your items in one of our upcoming online auctions. How it works... 1. You send us your lot information by email. 2. We list your items in our next auction. 3. We promote and advertise the auction. 4. The Auction ends on a set day. 5. We invoice buyers for sold lots. 6. We collect payment for invoices. 7. On receipt of payment we put the buyer in touch with yourself to arrange collection. 8. Once collected you get paid 100% of the hammer price! [email protected] I have no links to this company so do your own research!
  6. Another option is to place it in an internet plant auction, I'm always surprised the high prices stuff, even none runners, goes for. I use ibidder and Bidspotter.
  7. So over the weekend we've fitted better locks on the doors, chains and an alarm to which a mate has fitted a relay that switches on a couple of flood lights and a recorded message along the line of 'smile for the camara and the Police have been called'.
  8. My mates new Astra GTE was data tagged with a VIN number, it was stolen 6 years ago and has never been seen again.
  9. I was asking in general, clearly no one is going to tell me specifics. Maybe all that is required is insurance and the security kit required by the insurance policy, 5 lever locks, alarm etc?
  10. Reading the 'scroats on the prowl' thread got me thinking about security and wondered what you do to secure your kit at night or when you are away from the yard. Hitch locks, wheel clamps, steel kit boxes, chains and locks, camaras, big dog or geese? Reason is ask is I'm thinking of beefing mine up after a recent attempt to jemmy the workshop door.
  11. Phoned up Tesco bank to check my account and got the usual advert in my ear "did you know you no longer have to tell us when using your card abroad", oh great I thought as I need to order some spares from a company in Germany. So I got home, ordered the spares and tried to pay with my Tesco credit card, after two attempts get a warning saying the transaction has been refused by my bank, then I get a text saying ring Tesco. Nice guy explains because I'd tried to use the card to pay in euros it had been blocked. When I ask about the advert he says he knows nothing about it. So in reality if you want to use your card abroad YOU DO have to tell Tescos first.... crap advert AND a lack of joined up thinking.

  15. So you won't be shopping at Aldi or Lidl? What I find strange is that Belle is based in Buxton yet their kit is cheaper in Europe than the UK?
  16. But your example is still £400 cheaper in Germany than Screwfix, why?
  17. I wondered why I was paying the extra £1400, it's for the warranty. So I'm not being ripped off then!!
  18. I've got a large field containing daffodils I've been asked to mow. How far should the daffs die back before mowing?
  19. Her's another example Belle 4 x 4 Mini Dumper 134Ltr | Mini Dumpers | Screwfix.com Belle 4x4 mini dumper - Screwfix price £2,504. German equivalent Helo 4x4 chain driven mini dumper HELO Motor Mini Dumper BLUE POWER Lader Schubkarre motorisiert | eBay - price £830. and maybe £200 for delivery Total price around £1,100?
  20. Here's a topical link https://www.google.de/#q=stihl&tbm=shop Don't be tempted to actually buy any of these products on-line as this is verboten.
  21. So stand up and be counted. Say who you are and maybe people would love you for it.
  22. I've got to ask --- why is arb stuff so much more expensive here in the Uk compared to Europe. Rip off Britain??
