  1. Should have said I'm in Cumbria, so ideally I'm looking at a fairly local supplier (within 60 miles), but am willing to travel if the price is right!
  2. I'm thinking of replacing my rather run down timber house and the wife likes oak frame. Any suggestions where I can get one made?
  3. A mate of mind has a security alarm system and cctv, both send him a text message if activated, he can access the cctv via a laptop and see what's going on. He's a bit of a tech geck and is is now thinking of fitting a loudspeaker so he'll be able to shout, or whisper (take your pick) so any scally will be looking around and wondering what to do next.
  4. Just out of interest, how is the Japanese Knotweed growing, round here the stands a huge and getting bigger.
  5. I have a meeting with them on Monday so we'll see what they have to say then.
  6. A mate has a similar system which when triggered sends him a text message, he can then use an App to look at the live video feed to see what's happening on site. He says it’s mainly triggered by animals, but hopefully if triggered by a crook he would be able to ring the Police who could nab them red handed. Oh and if they nick the surveillance kit, it uploads photos to his computer at home if triggered.
  7. The owner of the larger part of this woodland works it as part of his charcoal and firewood business, so will he have a Woodland management Plan in place and if so, can I see a copy on-line? If so, where? Reason I ask is that I could then make sure my plan compliments his!
  8. Looking at the bonnet of the pickup in the photos - Is'nt that a Mitsubishi L200 bonnet?
  9. I've recently bought a house and included in the purchase is just over an acre of woodland. Having walked around the trees I notice that many of them, particularly those at the edge of the wood closest to the house are in poor condition with holes in the bases, many lean towards the light and are very tall (over 100 feet). Having never owned a wood before is there any advice anyone can give on its management, rules, regulations, grants? etc. Oh and the wood is small part of a much larger SSSI broad leaf woodland. One added complication, an overhead power cable to mine and the neighbours house skirts round and under the canopy of the trees at the edge of the wood, so felling the leaning trees will be problematic!
