  6. Oxalic acid ( think that's correct) is good for getting these small stains out of oak, not a chance on that though.

    Any ideas??

    Cheers chaps, I'm going with the wood wasp thing (even though I'm not sure) but I found a few more today and watched them wriggling about. Looked like they had a wasp type arse and six legs, how many legs does a wasp have? Very interesting to watch close up, they were shitting out perfect little cylindrical wood pellets! If they could produce bigger ones I could sell them as processed logs.
