  9. I`m thinking of applying for the 2 year apprenticeship with the fc as a forest craftsperson , does anyne have any experience with doing this and the fc n general ? cheers
  10. Evening all, Well after the hcc folded I applied to myerscough, for this year's intake, I've just done the pre entry test and I've to wait a week or so before I know if I've got a place, failing this is there anyone else who offer this as a distance learning course? The full level 2 arboriculture is what I'm wanting to do as I like the content and reckon it's a good grounding for starting off, what's the general view on it and any other routes to get certified, sorry to go on Lol Cheers
  11. That looks like it could be knocked up easy enough Hoover motor or a washing maching motor may be enough as it's turning a big pulley. Good idea though , the blade would be the tricky thing to get just right, I wouldn't wanna stand near it when testing the prototype
  12. Yikes that does sound demanding mate
  13. Email today, they have refunded all level 2 arb course fees as they cannot continue and will be wound up by end December , sad yes but now I'm stuck with my first lesson portfolio all ready and I'm making headway with book 2 ..... Any ideas on where I can distance learn level 2 arb , Cheers
  14. It wouldn't be main vehicle . A project and a used when possible/ practice , price well scrap value is all I'm offering
  15. The cash you will get from the scrappy for the water tank would cover conversion, British built as well
  16. It's an idea I was putting out there that's it ! And yes not the easiest to drive or most straight forward life is a challenge and if everyone done the same what a boring old world this would be ...
  17. Probably need hgv, unless it registered as agri use only , I mean they only do 40mph tops, I had thought about the diesel idea, it would be finding one that will fit into the tranny LPG May be worth looking into surely ?, yeah it's basically a truck chassis with a tender bolted on the rear , I'm all for saving old vehicles but goddesses are ten a penny these days , plus it's good to find a use for an old vehicle , ill source all parts for the backend from salvage but it will look grand , the spares side well there places that have broke them , it's only dome 1100 miles so diffs should in theory be ok, it's the engine that's the issue , an old cat Diesel engine would be ideal I'll need to see don't wanna have to fabricate parts everywhere
  18. Yes sounds mad not practical bla bla There's an old green goddess hidden away in a shed in the woods , due to age it's tax and mot exempt. now be a few years yet before I go it alone but , my idea is take the back water tank and fire tender off the chassis and basically make it into a flatbed, it's 4 wheel drive and in good order, could do the valves and LPG it for cheap as well, rear capacity would be huge amd obviously plenty space up front in the cab for tools and saws. has anyone done this before ? Amd good idea or stupid.... Think of the attention it will get free advertising mot and tax exempt ..... Photos to,follow
  19. Looks like they have folded, says all existing people studying will be ok but. Not ideal bang goes all my work !!
  20. I'm doing the level 2 and they were meant to take cash and havnt, the course well I'm not exactly sure , the portfolio , how should I produce it , hand written ? See there's no examples to look at and no guidance hcc really need to try harder !
  21. Well it's not even a lifestyle thing for me, just something that's Inside me, can't shake it off, been there since I was 14 , only happy when grafting, prefer the graft to be cutting and felling , very few seem up to doing hard graft these days as pays little . I done another Job today as I new her barely broke even , my own fault but annoyed now as she's got all the wood and I have the sore back !!! Grrrrrr
  22. I have a good mate works for msf you see
