  1. from what I hear milling into planks is no use as its near impossible to keep them from warping. __________________ Life is like an onion; you peel off layer after layer and then you find there is nothing in it. Weston Tree Services Tree Surgeon Tree Surgery in Inverness and the Highlands

  3. Good thread this, nothing quite like a few gory pics to keep you vigilant . Certainly think twice before using the top handle on the ground for a while. 4. As Yorkshire man said it is a combination of things. The first thing to do is make your code search engine friendly. I notice your "meta description" tag is on the long side at over 350 characters, Google cuts off the descriptions at about 150 characters. Also I noticed there is no "meta keywords tag" which some people argue is useless but it works for me. You also only have an "h1" tag and no "h2" and "h3" tags giving the page very little structure to the Google spiders which will crawl your site. If all of that has gone over your head speak to your web designer as they are all easy fixes. After that its all about back links nowadays, that is links back to your website from other websites just like you did in the initial question. Relevant backlinks are the best but face book, google plus, yell, gumtree (at a cost) and others can provide quality backlinks. Hope this gives you a starting point. __________________ Life is like an onion; you peel off layer after layer and then you find there is nothing in it. 5. Left ok, right bad by the looks of it. Kind of agree with scotspine though. Would rather come across the faces in natural things than a carving on a live tree. 6. Surely the nutrients robbed would be equal to or less than that lost to competition if the chips were not applied and you weren't weeding? Only an assumption and you know what they say about them __________________ Life is like an onion; you peel off layer after layer and then you find there is nothing in it. 9. I'm not sure this thread achieved anything other than stating the obvious, which I'm sure has been done before in other threads, and giving some people a source to vent. There is no doubt that the industry is being devalued but is seems to be a vicious circle with no realistic solution. __________________ Life is like an onion; you peel off layer after layer and then you find there is nothing in it. 11. Good thread, something I had never heard of before so glad I am now aware. Always better to be aware than oblivious. __________________ Life is like an onion; you peel off layer after layer and then you find there is nothing in it. 12. 6 and half a dozen really, you would have only had to do on the ground what you did from a rope, and as mentioned before there would have been lots of tension, compression and bits stuck in the ground. Good call I reckon __________________ Life is like an onion; you peel off layer after layer and then you find there is nothing in it. 14. Pretty interesting post, lots of different opinions. I would be inclined to follow manufacturers guidelines though. If their engineers recommend a certain type of oil i would imagine its for good reason. __________________ Life is like an onion; you peel off layer after layer and then you find there is nothing in it. 15. Tend to use gloves, if iv got them with me, for accents and then throw them out of the tree. Find they gut stuck in prussic when descending and even had them catch in rope grab. More trouble than there worth most of the time. Mind you spruce can be an exception, horrible stuff __________________ Life is like an onion; you peel off layer after layer and then you find there is nothing in it. 22. I used Dreamweaver cs5. Quite simple for basic use once i got a grip of HTML and css. Took a good few hours though. I also used a good series of you tube videos to help me along
  23. Funny you should say that andy as his name was andy to.......... hmmmm
  24. So during the quiet month of May I had a bit of time on my hands so put it to good use. Usually I rely on making phone calls, word of mouth and a few carefully placed adds to get work but thought I would broaden my horizons and build a website. So after watching a few video tutorials on website building this is the result. Weston Tree Services Tree Surgeon in Inverness and the Highlands Constructive criticism welcome as this is my first attempt at this kind of thing. Thanks Folks Who said you cant teach an old monkey new tricks.
