  2. I grow a few from seed, mainly redwoods, giant, coast and dawn, also have some monterey pine, red fir and incense cedar, I have a load more seed in the fridge breaking the dormancy of the seeds. we and friends have some land and it's a nice though to have that what I have grown from a seed a few mm big will stand 100m tall and last for a 1000 years, if it's left alone. ian Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    Hi-lift wedges

just bash it on it's side with a big hammer, it will spit the wooden shaft out..... only takes 1min to swap them over Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

My dad who is a retired joiner enjoys doing the odd project and recently has made a small coffee table.... all the pieces were cut by hand, the attention to detail is excellent. he is thinking on making some to sell, what sort of price do think it could make?? Hi-lift wedges

he did say throw the whole lot on the bin, I though he means the alloy bit too which would be pricey to replace. I don't use plastic wedges, I have a alloy wedge with a hard plastic shaft & 2 rings on it. it really dose take some hammer and is holding up very very well Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    Hi-lift wedges

at about 27 quid a shot, and if your unlucky a wooden shaft only lasts 3 trees...... it's gets pricey lol Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    Hi-lift wedges

after your wooden shaft has smashed, put the alloy wedge on a stump and just give it a good bash side ways on with a big hammer, just enough to squeeze the wedge, it will spit the wooden shaft out or loosen it enough for you to wiggle it out by hand. after that.... buy the plastic shafts, they last for bloody ages!! Fuel mix

running a saw to rich (too much oil) if only a little bit shouldn't overheat, might get smokey though. running lean (not enough oil) will overheat and seize your engine or kill your saw as Geoff said, 50:1 mix Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. yeah cutting trapped saws out or replacing crushed fencing haha you might have to wait for the ambulance crews and police to clear the scene of the accident first though Ian Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  25. that is a very very irresponsible guide..... if the tree is dead or has butt rot, it can react very different and be unpredictable to fell. ash likes to split and if you got the cuts wrong it could easily split and injure you. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
