  1. That's a top job!! Loving the carving, I think painting it has brought it to life, but still gives it a wooden integrity! spot on :-)
  2. Same as Norfolk, bit of a trek, maybe one year or ill have to see what's closer. Would love to join with fellow carvers sometime
  3. Well depends what you want to carve, iv carved this bear with a Makita electric. That's with a standard bar, with the electrics there isn't much you can buy accessories wise but don't spend a fortune on an electric but don't go cheap as they are a waste.
  4. I know over in America you can get a Makita carving bar set with sprocket included but youd have to check the correct model. P&P is tricky as it takes ages and isn't always guaranteed to arrive. Electric saws take smaller chain sizing etc so youll probably do just as well with a normal electric saw for what an electric can do http://www.baileysonline.com/itemdetail.asp?item=18875
  5. with electrics its tricky, what make electric do you have ?
  6. Very Nice! (Next time you doing the front half?) -)
  7. lol! that's a damn good price. just quickly make another ;-)
  8. Ditto, lol If anyone knows a rough price message me cause i haven't a clue
  9. yes marble eyes derv, ordered a few on ebay. Thanks all. no idea on prices for my items though. Im not very good on knowing what goes for what. Im pretty pleased with it so far, its just really enjoyable to do :-)
  10. OSMO polyx is expensive, its that balance I guess between that and other oils. Id love to see some products with the polyx oil to see the difference. If I make big bucks I may buy some but is it really worth the price?
  11. Go for it :-) Look forward to seeing it. Ill have to get the first comment in i think :-)
  12. Same here.. although I found out time flies by.. Happy carving and hope to see some of your work on here :-)
  13. I always think, nothings too hard to achieve, just take your time, measure twice and cut once :-) Finding timber is difficult, I have a few local contacts in which I can collect timbers from so pretty lucky, all depends what's around at the time and what it is I guess. Im using only an electric chainsaw too but always think big for the future Its the enjoyment for me..:-)
  14. Thank you.. ...erm...less than a year, since November 2012 but chain sawing since 2007. Mainly felling, logging and snedding. Many Thanks for you comment. Always great to see people liking your work :-)
  15. Had a go at a soaring Owl today, another first and fairly happy with the results. Just some detailing work to finish off then preserving/burning or colouring.
