  1. Brilliant Carve friars and many thanks for its design. As you said it is fairly tricky to get any distinguishing features on an otter carve so it doesnt look like any other 'rodent' type. Iv just started mine, similar size and body type so it looks like im on the right path. Iv changed the head slightly and gone for a more flat top approach. Hopefully it will come out smelling of roses. Its a slow carve i tend to go back to when i can to get some more done. (gives me time to look at it and work out the next stage) Ill certainly add progress photos after a little more. The only stumbling block i came to was the legs and feet, deciding not to go to advanced and keep it simple. I love your approach. As i progress i maybe asking your advice, many thanks friars and keep up the good work :-)
  2. Took a while to respond, but thanks for your feedback guys. Im going to look into that book friars and will keep you updated... :-)
  3. Nice one, very seasonal, scary and looks good fun carving. That should scare the kids :-)
  4. ditto, nice to see a different type of carve, looks brilliant, especially the wing shaping, symbolizing the bat. Nice work woodwizard
  5. Was thinking of carving one of these myself. They are really popular at the moment and look fairly simple to carve. Like you've said its tricky leaving it natural as it doesn't give the same effect as painting it. You've done a cracking job there. I bet you'll be producing more as they will go like hot cakes :-)
  6. The Ear Defenders you can pick up from most places (Amazon, Ebay etc) I always think you pay for what you get in many respects. These are the first iv produced so seeing how they go cost wise. I could do 100s cheap or fewer at a higher price so it all depends i guess on the timber you have and time to knock them up. Im just working on the base, iv left these natural, as there quicker to do and look more rustic which some people like. May stick with this or produce a more 'truck' shaped base. Will have to see how they go down....
  7. Yeah i tried a spiral effect and a few rings around. (quick and easy and people seem to love them) I dont really carve much for Halloween, never too sure on what to carve up. Like most people say, before you know it, its xmas, so thought id getting in there early. like many retailers. :-)
  8. Knocked up a few xmas trees (Early i know) First attempts but got through them pretty quickly. Also gave me chance to try out my new Husqvarna FM Ear Defenders. Making the job much more fun. Although the punters probably thought i was slightly odd rocking out.
  9. Superb. Love the facial look. What did you finish it off with?

  15. Thumbs up to them. Love the table, great idea with the small rounds. I take it they are bolted through to hold together
  16. Like this but with more of a 'stumpy' type face with the ears hanging over the face..if you get what i mean. Same stature as that but as a lop eared rabbit :-)
  17. :blushing:Hope I have this in the correct forum spot
  18. Hello, I have a couple interested in a carving of a lop eared rabbit (award winning breeder) Described as standing on hind legs and definitely lop eared. vaguely no more than 2ft tall. The carving would be located in the Midlands. If anyone is interested drop me a message
