  7. Sound advice and super ideas, for the price I think ill stick with flap discs but look at building up my tools as and when I can. Them things are lethal!! I nearly slipped once and it was too close for comfort. Some people say 'take the guards off' Im covered with eye protection, dust mask, ear plugs and gloves.... ....looking like im using some crazy deadly substance. Not sure what the neighbours make when im wandering around the garden. Hope your back carving soon Dervish!!
  8. Anyone use angle grinders to finish their carvings? As im a bit of a newbie and after carving my mushrooms I tend to smooth the tops over with an angle grinder. I have a cracking Black & Decker and have taken the guard off, using flap discs. Works pretty well. Iv been looking at tungsten Carbide attachments and allsorts... ...anyone have any advice or would like to share there 'ways of working' I would be very grateful. Many Thanks
  9. Reading this topic Iv started with teak oil, but find the carvings drink it like a thirsty camel! Im going to give the Ronseal decking protector a go and see what its like for showing the grain and protection. ...Seems good feedback from it too.
  10. I use the MS250, I find it a nice easy saw...
  11. Splinters: How did you get on at Car boot sales? Was thinking of doing some but people always want stuff dirt cheap? Thanks for all your feed back guys, iv keep account of everything and I was surprised that lots of outgoings mean tiny tiny profits

  17. Hello all First of all im new to the forum so just a to say 'hi' Iv been carving now for just 4 months and making mushrooms left right and centre. Iv mainly been selling to friends and family but am thinking of selling locally and just see what happens from there. Many Thanks.... ....and hope to talk more and more in the future
