  1. good luck with the recovery, all the best Sean.
  2. cant believe someone turned down an offer to clear that for free dangerous to make safe and a load of work, time etc before you see any return. if I was going to tackle it, I would have a pole saw in my armoury!! so am I right in thinking some one is going to pay to sort it?
  3. there are some impressive miles there hi jon, know its not a landy but my 97 hilux has just done 242000 faultless miles. the original clutch did over 200000. had it 14 years. it did a 320 mile round trip from reading to north devon towing a tp150 chipper last week. over took one gritter on whole journey. the defender will be missed when they stop making them, madness.
  4. sorry to hear your news. hanging is to good for these types of people. I am not Muslim but chopping of hands for stealing seems fair enough to me. did you leave it hitched together? I always clamp my chipper now, wont stop them but might slow them down enough for me to get the axe.... good luck
  5. I had traffic lights the other day, £500 deposit and £500 for the day. it was 50 mph. I also had to up my insurance to 10 million. as I found out each local authority has different requirements. 2 good lads on stop and go signs, some cones and some tree cutting signs:001_smile: could you drag bigger bits up lane or driveway on the right and process there? power lines look insulated, but look for old rub places. good luck.
  6. I once found the floor. sadly it has since been covered up with tools, wood chip and rubbish.
  7. that photo makes me feel itchy... dreys, pigeon's nest....
  8. harness, rope, prussic x 2, carabeners x 2 gaffs for take downs. less links in the chain...less to go wrong.
  9. 42 and climb most weeks. aches and pains as everyone else. go for it, its only a number. to be honest, sometimes I think it can be harder on the ground. i.e big take down with crap access, logs on shoulder, down steps, round corner, then throw on truck, and again, and again.... good luck

    free cider

conifer hedge:thumbdown: not great, but ok as mulch I guess. I will chip as much as I can as chip seems to be easier to get rid of than Lawson logs!!

    free cider

oh well, layby it is, after my cider, then throw my cans on top!! joke as well. I thought there might be a company taking it rather than ring allotments, stables etc. looks like the cider will be coming home:001_smile:with all the chip and log:thumbdown:

    free cider

hi all, I will deliver a pack of local cider to anyone who lives within 10 miles of Taunton if they can direct me to a green waste tip site. so far no luck, either no thanks or wellington waste wanted 130+vat per ton???? landfill is expensive I was told. its woodchip I said. still goes to landfill was the answer?! thanks again.
  14. why not put a tipper on the hilux? had mine converted in 2008, high sides, all good. you said the hilux was good. can probably carry the same as a transit, legally good luck.
  15. thanks, will call them tomorrow.
  16. evening all, as title suggests, does anyone know of one? old conifer hedge, so no firewood. will be nice to be in the west country again, cider me thinks... thanks.
  17. hi, get your own climbing kit when you have tried a few out. you will need one in the long run and as someone else said, you can climb when you want, yes when not at work!! the only way to get better is to climb. also its a serious bit of ppe and its nice to know it hasn't had diesel on it or left in the rain etc. its yours and you can look after it. good luck and climb whenever you can. get a second hand 200t
  18. interesting, like us all my overheads keep going up. may be I should look at it from a different approach. not good at the books and it just seems more hassle.
  19. my customers don't ask to see my insurance or tickets, I don't think checking a vat number would be top of their list. I don't have to charge vat, and are therefore 20% cheaper. that's life..
  20. do you have to earn a certain amount to get registered? I bet if I offered to charge it even when under the threshold, hmrc would not object, would they?
