  1. Make that weeks on the Burley!
  2. So we deal with the effects of human interference by............................ ............................errrrr, more human interference! Crazy!
  3. As Mr Stubby says the Burleys are designed as dedicated wood burners and they give you all the theory why such a design is necessary to get the maximum heat out of your wood. Have to say that when you're sitting at night with the whole house roasting having burnt no more than maybe half a dozen decent bits of stick, it's hard to disagree with their pitch.
  4. That doesn't create well paid jobs for clueless college boys!
  5. They do two kits, the standard one which is straight out the back for stoves on an outside wall or the right angled kit if not. Ours was going against an internal wall but having read up on it I still wanted to room seal it so thats what we used. I used the supplied rectangle section duct behind the stove and through the fire breast, then put an adaptor on it which took it to 4in round which allowed me to use flexible ducting over to the exterior wall. Going through the wall was a bit of extra work certainly but so glad I took the trouble to do it that way. Stove always has all the air it needs but no draughts in the room from outside vents.
  6. I've a mate works in Asda, strangely enough he says the cost of fuel to get to his work every day is a bummer as well!
  7. If you think you're stuck, get the winch immediately, don't try working your way out as you'll almost certainly just work your way further in. Was clearing sheughs for a man in my early contracting days with a standard 2wd 3CX and there was couple of fields to do which were just pure peat but had been grazed with sheep and had a good thick wad of grass over them. Was doing fine until a wee bit fell back in behind me and like an eejit I moved back one bucket width to get it. That was it, obviously the grass would carry the wheels over it once but go back on the existing track and we were gone. Managed to hold the digger up between wheels and careful positioning of front and rear buckets but wasn't ever getting out under my own steam. Realised what I was dealing with first time I tried to heave myself out but just pushed the dipper straight down in until the jib was level along the top of the ground, and that was with a 5ft sheugh bucket on it! Got a hand off a neighbour with a winch the next day and was very .relieved to see the digger sitting back out on a hard road. Potentially scarey places!
  8. Fubar!
  9. I'd been going to put my 266xp (very tidy, starts easily, running perfectly) on gumtree, ............................maybe I'll not bother! Absolutely atrocious if exactly as described.
  10. I had winter tyres fitted to my Volvo estate, fitted them early November and surmised that I'd play it by ear the following spring regarding swapping them for conventional tyres over the summer but never needed to replace them. Brilliant in ice, snow, slush, wet, everything nasty and sure when the tarmacs nice and warm and dry any damned thing will stick to it! Would have no hesitation in fitting them as an all year round tyre, in fact as someone pointed out, for the UK they probably ARE the all year round tyre!

Another feature of shitty chinese goods is that they tend to attract equally shitty dealers and "importers". Been rumbling on like this for 9 or 10 years now and shows no sign of changing.
  13. You are of-course quite correct. Unfortunately the way I stated it is the way that many see it and the way it seems to be put forward most often by the eu friendly media. The farming lobby I believe will be hard to convince on eu withdrawal as a consequence. In reality however it's quite simple, as a net contributor Westminster itself could quite comfortably substitute for every penny that "comes from Europe" and we'd still be better off financially.
  14. I'm expecting a cheque in the next couple of weeks for the annual payment on my woodland, half of which comes from Europe. Another month or so after that I'll be waiting on my single farm payment, ALL of which comes from Europe. Yet I still hope at the next general election that the UK as a whole will take a huge step forward in getting us out of this unholy union as soon as possible!
  15. Be thankful you haven't a motorcycle shop, I'll be living off scraps for the next three months, four if the weather is real bad in February. But such is the nature of it. I work whatever hours are necessary to keep up with things in the busy periods and then see to other stuff in the quiet times.
  16. Throw a new plug in it before you try anything dramatic. Modern plugs are odd buggers, frequently show a spark when earthed outside but won't run the engine. I always use a spark tester to test ignition systems, only reliable way. You'll be replacing it anyway so do it before anything else just in case.

Sounds good, think I'll have some of that.

On a more positive note, one guy told me that BSB has been the best of the lot this year by a country mile. Too late for 2014 now but probably need to get tuned in to that for next year.

Haven't watched a single race this year mate. Absolutely no chat in the shop about it either, good or bad, so obviously many others of the same mindset. Don't mean to pee on your parade, just saying.
  20. Ordered myself a new X27 today and managed to get somewhere prepared to courier it over here for £15. I considered this a result, many places simply won't even bother supplying outside of the most accessible parts of the mainland.
  21. Just another example of clueless idiots meddling with nature pretty much because, well, they think they can! Can he not just tell them to f**k off and do what actually IS best for the countryside?
  22. In what context do you ask the question, practical or purely for discussion?
  23. Cagiva River? (no pun intended!)
  24. Hydrostatic transmission on the Kubota getting a good test!
  25. The great thing is that being a generic term it has many applications. Regular customers to my shop are well familiar with it and the scorn poured on anything that falls under it's scope.
