  1. The naked jogger towards the end was the only interesting bit
  2. Thanks Wasn't there on Sunday to see what it was recarved as. Didn't know he started again.
  3. Bit boring really.
  4. Don't think I posted these pics. (click on them for bigger pics)
  5. Our farm shop (Willington) is easiest but a few local pubs, restaraunts etc sell it. Not easy to get hold of unfortunately. Obviously I am biased but I really do think it's a very good product. Not a West Country type cider as it is made using dessert apples rather than cider varieties. Biggest problem is it is about 8.4%. Don't sell much because folks are usually wasted after one bottle. Customers like it, pubs don't.
  6. I make it.
  7. A big old oak tree in one of my fields was hit by lightning one morning. It instantly vapourised the sap and the whole thing just exploded. This was a proper big mature oak in what was parkland, all that was left was a few feet of trunk. The bits were scattered over an area up to 100yds from the trunk. 100 yards is a damned long way! I would love to have seen it happen bit it would have scared the hell out of me. I most certainly would not want to have been up it at the time. I have a few other trees that have been hit over the years, it usually just takes a strip of bark off from the top to the bottom, a couple of inches wide.
  8. Fire was lit last night. Not because it was cold (far from it) but it is the only cooker I have. Missus lit it and told me to cook tea.
  9. Plenty of rape in flower recently. I expect the bees will be in there rather than messing about in gardens. I have seen plenty of hover flies about.
  10. He was only actually fined £10k
  11. I enjoy any tree for what it is, not whose it is. I am very lucky to actually own a few trees I consider a bit special but they would be just as special if someone else owned them.
  12. I "went on a diet" last year and did lose quite a bit. Think I got down to 14 and a half stone. I'm 15 stone now. I used an app called Myfitnesspal on my iphone, use it to count calories of what you eat. I quite liked it and it definitely helped. Don't know about you folk but with working outside all the time I am affected by the seasons and I always get what I call a winter coat. About half a stone extra in winter. As soon as the autumn comes I can't help but eat all the time, I honestly think it is hibernation instinct setting in. Gave up drink altogether for a couple of months. Didn't make any difference to anything as far as I could tell. I am listening though
  13. From what I can make of the article he still profited anyway.
  14. Why's that? I appreciate it isn't the best regime but why would it cause problems and what problems? Stopped smoking very nearly two years ago but I expect the habit of not eating came from before that. It's not so much a habit, just something I can cope with. More through being too idle to make a packed lunch and never have bothered with breakfast. I'm 49, active, fit and healthy as far as I can tell and seem to be doing quite well on it. Wouldn't harm to be a stone lighter though.
  15. I remember someone protesting against motorway speeds. They travelled in the "fast" lane at 70mph. They were prosecuted for obstruction.
  16. Sorry Rob I didn't realise it was the same tree. Sorry if my post came across a bit arsey too, wasn't meant to be, even I thought it was after I read it. I will try and see the Gloucester tree and thanks for the tip. Thanks for the offer of dropping you a line too Browncow, a bit of a whistle stop tour with the missus so probably a bit rushed. Appreciated all the same. I shan't be climbing though, I go dizzy if I stand on the pavement too long!
  17. Do you own the ones in those pics? I own the one in mine. That's if you can own a tree, I didn't plant it and the fella that did was gone long before my time. All being well the tree will be there long after I am forgotten. I am the current custodian is maybe better. In October I am off to Perth and WA, I hear there's some big trees out there worth a look. My fave tree(s) in Oz so far has to be the scribbly gum. Just love them.
  18. It was raining honeydew under there
  19. A close friend/cousin/partner dropped down dead the other side of the hedge. The extreme tool he was using at the time.....draining rods. I wouldn't think twice about working on my own with a chainsaw or anything else. Except maybe draining rods. As said somewhere above, play safe and you will be OK. As also said somewhere above, it won't be what you are expecting that gets you anyway. Look up Baz Luhrmann and see what he says will unexpectedly blindside you at 4pm on an idle Tuesday.
  20. My usual routine is to get to work at 8am and be home shortly after 5pm. I am quite happy not to eat anything at all until I get home, and don't eat before leaving. Coffee when I get up and a couple of brews during the day, sometimes tea sometimes coffee. Don't feel hungry either. Stuff myself stupid when I get home mind
  21. Some kindling
  22. Must be a month or more since that container went. Thanks for the heads up but it isn't a new thing, I'd say you need to be constantly on your guard.
  23. I have a sneaking suspicion it is so things don't get lost. An envelope may "disappear" somewhere, you would struggle to smuggle a great big box anywhere.
  24. The firing pin I bought is made out of hardened steel. I'm not sure how you could damage it in an envelope
  25. Some of us remember two man crosscut saws. Won't be going back to that any time soon either.
