  1. I might have an old pair in the shed, I'll take a look tomorrow....
  2. If I sub a climber in, they'll get a minimum of £120 a day for easy stuff and up to £180 for really technical work.... As it's been said, £60 is no wage for self employed...
  3. Running a 20" on my 576XPG and a 15" on my 560XPG, I will never buy a Husqvarna bar again. The Sugihara bars so far are holding up really well, they seem to be a bit stiffer that the Husky bars without a noticeable change in weight or balance. Just out of interest how do they weigh in against the manufacturers bars??
  4. If your going to be planting a lot, then I wouldn't be without one, the weight and shape of the blade takes a lot of strain out of the job imo, right tool for the job!
  5. I use one of these for planting, nice weight with a good treadle 031100 Schlich ( also Schlick ) Tree Planting Spade from Stanton Hope
  6. Just keep in mind that sometimes Beech whips of that size can have a pretty big root system, so you'll need quite big slots to get everything under ground without damaging the plant...
  7. Severe weather, all I'll say is don't bother if the ground is frozen, otherwise crack on. That 850 m was planted in torrential rain and high winds..!! If the ground is bad you just have to work with what you've got, tree stump - get the whips in as close to either side as you can, what else can you do?? Underground pipework in my experience, no pipework should really be that close to the surface unless a farmer has put pipes in for troughs!!! To make it easy, get some decent planting bags (paper round bags work well) or Stanton Hope have some planting accessories, a decent planting spade/spear is worth it's weight too. It's always worth walking the area to be planted and have a good prod around...
  8. Finished a hedge planting job just before christmas, 2 men, 850 meters in 2 and a half days, double row, 5 plants per meter, no guards, whips (black, hawthorn, crab, beech) and container grown gorse. Half was easy planting the other half was strewn with stone....!!! I'd say £120 a day per man is a fair price.
  9. Yeah, wonder if they do a 3 mile extension lead.....
  10. Hodge, did you say a 100 miles? If it's a 100 miles south I bet I know which firm it is...!!!!
  11. Roughly how many will I need in a 3 acre Beech wood this winter?
  12. Currently on the Pfanner Strecth Air Ventilator, best trousers I've used, cool light and hardwearing....
  13. £918 just for CS30/31 at Capel Manor, it's less than £650 up here with this guy Chainsaw Training with Phil Dunford : COURSES FOR PROFESSIONAL USERS (Lantra Awards training course leading to a QCF qualification/licence to practice) . You would probably be better off with CS38/39 than CS32.....
  14. Just out of interest what year is your saw Jim?
  15. From memory I think this is the part number 537 20 66-03, just double check before ordering though....
  16. Types 2, 3, 6, 10, 27, 29, 61, 64. Use them all on a regular basis
  17. No, I got the standard filter size, far better, no problems so far (touch wood). I'd rather it pull slightly less air through the filter than have it in the back of my mind that a hole has appeared and it's pulling crap in to the carb..!!
  18. Just tell him you are going to check, your only doing your job
  19. Went through 2 mesh filters in about 2 months, flock filter fitted 8 months ago, not a problem since :thumbup1:
  20. I bought one back in November, the other saws haven't had a look in since! 15" bar and full chisel chain, it's a flyer
  21. Took the words out of my mouth, they soon learn to be quicker if they get bitten. The more men and dogs you can muster the better. I was once told, one of the best ways to control Rats is to catch 3 or 4 and put them in a barrel so they can't escape, don't feed them, what will eventually happen is they will get hungry and start eating each other until you have one left.. Then place another couple of rats in the barrel, and repeat the process. You'll supposedly end up with a Killer Cannibal Rat that you then release and hey presto it'll kill the other rats!!!! I have my doubts, plus it's illegal to release vermin once they've been trapped...!!!!
  22. I just hope nobody watches this video and thinks I can do that, lucky thats all I can say..... I deal with wind thrown/damaged tree's regularly in a forest situation, I like to be able to drive home at the end of the day, if this is how you deal with this sort of situation then one day you'll be making your final journey in a box....!!!!
  23. When you say cut up, various lengths or equal lengths??
